By now we all know the expression "be careful what you wish for; you just might get it." This axiom will prove oh-so-true in indie developer Dream Nyght Studio's upcoming The Wishing Stone, a visual novel-styled adventure currently raising funds on Kickstarter.

It's unnerving enough to be trapped in a haunted house all alone, but it's even more so when you have no memory of who you are or how you got there. You'll need to contend with both obstacles in Shaka Brah! Games' upcoming The Haunting of Flavel House, which is currently raising funds through Kickstarter.

We must learn the lessons of history lest we be doomed to repeat it. This seems to be one of the underlying themes of Monkeys Tales Studio’s upcoming A Painter’s Tale: Curon, 1950, an adventure game about love, resistance, and the lessons lying literally just below the surface of a past that refuses to be forgotten.

After taking players to the underworld in last year’s Angelo and Deemon: One Hell of a Quest, indie developer Specialbit Studio will be sending us deep into the untamed Siberian forests in their next graphic adventure, The Wild Case.

If movies like Blade Runner 2049 and Mad Max: Fury Road have taught us anything, it's that it's never too late for a good sequel. The new game from solo indie developer Roman isn't quite as long-awaited as them, but it'll be nearly twenty years since the launch of its predecessor when FunnyPizzaLand 2: The Last Supper is served up sometime next year.

Though Valentine’s Day may be behind us, we can still look forward to the arrival of LOVE – A Puzzle Box Filled with Stories. The upcoming adventure by Rocketship Park is being designed to hone in on specific player emotions, a hallmark the indie Canadian developer tries to instill in all its games. Despite its title, however, it isn't love itself the team wishes to focus on, but rather the cathartic sadness that replaces it after it is lost.

Mental health awareness has really stepped to the forefront of our collective consciousness of late, and taking care of oneself is more important than ever in these troubled times. Indie developer Filipe F. Thomaz has tapped into this sentiment in designing his upcoming adventure Into A Dream around the theme of one man’s depression and the impact it has on his relationships with those closest to him.

Who knew back in 2007 that Valve's Portal would not only go on to become a resounding success, but launch a whole new sub-genre of gaming in the process. But here we are thirteen years later, and the next Portal-style adventure coming down the pike is Koren Games' HYPERVENTURE, which is currently seeking funding through Kickstarter.

While many adventure games seek to tap into our creative right-brain impulses, you'll need all your left-brain synapses firing for The Long Gate, an upcoming 3D puzzler from indie developer David Shaw.

We tend to think of trains merely as vehicles traveling a perfectly linear route between two points, but inside a train live the countless individual stories of its passengers. It's these personal tales explored during a shared journey, rather than the final destination, that are at the heart of Monorail Stories, an upcoming new adventure from the creator of Eselmir and the five magical gifts.

They say you can never go home again, which isn't true in the literal sense, of course, but if you try you'll find that nothing is quite the same. You can begin to experience the truth of this axiom for yourself through the limited-time demo available for Frostwood Interactive's upcoming narrative adventure Forgotten Fields, which is currently seeking crowdfunding through Kickstarter.

The world has become a lot grimmer this year, which may help explain why the developers of the bright and charming fabric-themed Woven have chosen a dark psychological horror game for their next offering, Sanity of Morris.

Most Lovecraft-inspired adventures take place in the dreary American northeast, but not so with Desolatium, a free interactive mystery adventure from Superlumen that's about to get a major overhaul via crowdfunding support on Kickstarter.

Conjoined twins are siblings physically connected to each other but having their own idenities and personalities. But what if a set of twins were so conjoined that they each shared half of the exact same body? Sound implausible? Not so, says indie developer Fractalcatz Games, who have recently released the debut installment of their three-part psychological mystery adventure, Related.

The mystery of the lost colony on Roanoke Island has endured for over 430 years, but it may take just one more to finally discover what happened in indie developer Madcraft Studios' upcoming point-and-click adventure, Crowalt: Traces of the Lost Colony.
