We must learn the lessons of history lest we be doomed to repeat it. This seems to be one of the underlying themes of Monkeys Tales Studio’s upcoming A Painter’s Tale: Curon, 1950, an adventure game about love, resistance, and the lessons lying literally just below the surface of a past that refuses to be forgotten.

The most tumultuous love stories engulf their participants in a whirlwind of passion and turmoil, but the most tragic can take down even those within their orbit. Such is the case with For Evelyn, an upcoming retro RPG-styled adventure from Kisuarts.

The number seven is a lucky one for puzzle lovers. First there was The 7th Guest and the nefarious brainteasers of the mad toymaker Stauf. And now there's Seven Doors, a new atmospheric puzzle adventure from indie developer Indigo Studios.

After taking players to the underworld in last year’s Angelo and Deemon: One Hell of a Quest, indie developer Specialbit Studio will be sending us deep into the untamed Siberian forests in their next graphic adventure, The Wild Case.

If movies like Blade Runner 2049 and Mad Max: Fury Road have taught us anything, it's that it's never too late for a good sequel. The new game from solo indie developer Roman isn't quite as long-awaited as them, but it'll be nearly twenty years since the launch of its predecessor when FunnyPizzaLand 2: The Last Supper is served up sometime next year.

Though Valentine’s Day may be behind us, we can still look forward to the arrival of LOVE – A Puzzle Box Filled with Stories. The upcoming adventure by Rocketship Park is being designed to hone in on specific player emotions, a hallmark the indie Canadian developer tries to instill in all its games. Despite its title, however, it isn't love itself the team wishes to focus on, but rather the cathartic sadness that replaces it after it is lost.

Mental health awareness has really stepped to the forefront of our collective consciousness of late, and taking care of oneself is more important than ever in these troubled times. Indie developer Filipe F. Thomaz has tapped into this sentiment in designing his upcoming adventure Into A Dream around the theme of one man’s depression and the impact it has on his relationships with those closest to him.

Who knew back in 2007 that Valve's Portal would not only go on to become a resounding success, but launch a whole new sub-genre of gaming in the process. But here we are thirteen years later, and the next Portal-style adventure coming down the pike is Koren Games' HYPERVENTURE, which is currently seeking funding through Kickstarter.

Most of us will never come close to outer space, but what if we could travel to and even impact extraordinary new worlds just through a telescope? Sound far-fetched? Perhaps physically, yes, but not virtually, as we can see for ourselves in the limited-time Steam demo for Played With Fire's upcoming VR exclusive, Stargaze.

How many adventure game inventory puzzles could be solved without all the convoluted item combinations if only you had a good ol' hammer or wrench? Well, we can find out for ourselves this week in the Steam Game Festival demo for Rumata Lab's upcoming adventure, The Last Shot.

Many of us are largely still confined to our homes right now, and we don't have to travel all the way to Africa to do it. But next year players could find themselves trapped in a much different type of home with myriad puzzles to solve, looking not to get out but to get further in with the release of indie developer Vulpesoft's adventure Dr. Livingstone, I Presume?

Any good theatre plays host to countless different worlds and stories, according to the various performances enacted upon its stage. But the one in Punk Notion's upcoming genre-bending adventure Ars Fabulae does so far more literally than most.

While many adventure games seek to tap into our creative right-brain impulses, you'll need all your left-brain synapses firing for The Long Gate, an upcoming 3D puzzler from indie developer David Shaw.

We tend to think of trains merely as vehicles traveling a perfectly linear route between two points, but inside a train live the countless individual stories of its passengers. It's these personal tales explored during a shared journey, rather than the final destination, that are at the heart of Monorail Stories, an upcoming new adventure from the creator of Eselmir and the five magical gifts.
