Smart devices are everywhere these days, from fridges to lightbulbs; you name it, someone has tried to add AI to it. But you've probably never even considered the potential benefits of smart fertilizer, or the possible side effects. The upcoming A Trail of Ooze, by indie developer Insanto Studios, will be all about those unintended consequences in a classic-styled comedic point-and-click adventure with a social conscience.

The challenges facing Hong Kong these days are well documented, but they're nothing compared to the devastation that has already befallen the region in indie developer Navi's upcoming memory-driven adventure, Man Without Organs.

You could say that Serbian studio PAROBOT are ardent admirers of their countryman Nikola Tesla. Even after the award-winning animated short Tesla and the Lamplighter, followed by the animated movie Tesla: The Invention of Dreams and even a stage play, the developers were still not content and are now branching out into games with Tesla INVENTORIUM, a puzzle-platforming adventure that delves into Tesla's imagination to entertain while also teaching players about the man, his ideas, and his environmentally conscious ideals.

Some games take longer than others to make. The most basic can be completed in a matter of months, while many can take years. Then then are games like Ingo Stuckenbrock's of pawns & kings, which has been in some form of development for over twenty-five years! At long last the project appears poised to reach its conclusion, though it's going to need some help on Kickstarter if it's to finally reach the finish line.

Many adventure games claim to be inspired by Broken Sword, but few if any can do so with as much conviction as indie German developer Radio Silence Studios, whose upcoming The Adventures of Bryan Scott not only seeks to emulate the "depth and charm" of Revolution's acclaimed classic series, but will star the voice of George Stobbart himself, Rolf Saxon, in the lead role.

Making a deal with the devil invariably comes with strings attached. Fortunately for us, the strings for one unwitting artist involve overcoming a surreal series of puzzles in indie developer DP Games' newly released Summertime Madness.

How far would you go to reunite with a loved one during a disaster scenario? That’s the question that Maya, one of the protagonists of Reptoid Games’ upcoming isometric adventure Fire Tonight, will have to face when the game is released later this summer.

The Internet is practically ubiquitous in 2021 (good thing, or you might not be reading this otherwise), but at least in the fictional world there's one place left where it's still largely shunned. Adventure gamers can head to this scenic, remote Spanish town for themselves next year when the husband-and-wife team at Aruma Studios release their debut commercial adventure, Intruder in Antiquonia.

It's been over two years since Microids first announced its plans to collaborate with Pendulo Studios on a game loosely based on Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo. (Of course, a lot has happened in the world since then.) At long last, however, the veil has been pulled back on the upcoming adventure, scheduled to arrive on PC and current and next-gen consoles later this year.

Lamps have been indispensible adventure game tools since the very early text days, but never has one been more important than in the upcoming Adventure Light, a LIMBO-like side-scroller that is currently raising funds through Kickstarter.

We all know the expression "a picture is worth a thousand words," but another way to think of it is that "every painting has a story to tell." We'll find out soon enough just how true that is when Taiwanese developer Silver Lining Studio's Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery makes its way to PC later this year.

From the Blackwell to The Darkside Detective series, supernatural buddy cop mysteries have proven to be excellent adventure game fodder in recent years. The next title to walk that fine line between the living and the dead is The Phantom Fellows, an upcoming retro-styled adventure by indie developer Strummer Games, whose introductory demo has just been unveiled.

The Inuit peoples have a rich mythology that is as yet largely untapped in video games, though that has begun to change in recent years. The latest game to delve into Inuit legend is Inua – A Story in Ice and Time, an upcoming adventure by indie studios Iko and The Pixel Hunt.

There's a very real concern about "Big Tech" monopolies in today's world, but there's even more to be worried about in indie developer Jordi Puigdellívol's Terminal Madness, a five-part, single-purchase point-and-click comic adventure whose debut installment has just been released.

Two heads are better than one, as the saying goes. In Deep Monolith’s newly released visual novel-styled detective game, Mark & Lara: Partners in Justice, you and a friend will be able to see just how big a difference teamwork can make.
