You know all those adventure games with cute and cuddly anthropomorphic animals? Well, forget about them! The animals in the upcoming Mutagenesis: A Wasteland Odyssey are nothing like that in a post-apocalyptic adventure in which only mutated creatures have survived.

The adventure genre sure is becoming a strange place. First Life Is Strange takes us all by storm, and now indie developer Wormwood Studios aims to follow up its impressive sci-fi debut Primordia with a surreal new point-and-click adventure, Strangeland.

Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo has long been considered one of cinema's finest masterpieces, and now it's on its way in interactive form. While we may not be getting the whole thing in a straight adaptation, today Microïds announced that Pendulo Studios will be creating a new game "loosely based" on the 1958 thriller.

Love, whether we like to admit it or not, can challenge us and rattle our nerves, especially during stressful times in our lives. Team Gotham’s upcoming Solo, however, allows players to reflect on love in a relaxing, introspective way. And what better place to do so than a group of colorful islands inhabited by adorable characters?

For those of us who have lived through our teen years already, very few are likely to want to repeat them. But experiencing the "fun, alienation, stupidity and agony of being a teen" vicariously through an adventure game protagonist is a whole different story. At least, more than a thousand backers of Perfect Tides on Kickstarter seem to think so.

Lots of sci-fi stories feature hyper-advanced technology that practically operates itself. But what if the tech isn't quite that advanced, while you're anything but a mechanical genius and don't actually know how to work anything? This is your lot in life in indie Belarusian developer One Wing Cicada's newly-released adventure, Tardy.

It's a truism that the scariest things in life are those we imagine. Unfortunately for the star of Red Limb Studio's Rise of Insanity (but very fortunate for us), that's exactly what players are up against in the newly-released psychological horror game.

Best known for its choice-based interactive stories like 80 Days and Steve Jackson's Sorcery!, indie UK studio inkle is now setting its sights on their first graphic adventure in the form of Heaven's Vault.

As anyone who's ever played the legendary adventure studio's Myst series or Obduction knows, Cyan never makes anything easy. So of course the announcement of their next game would arrive with only an enticing teaser trailer and just a few cryptic story details.

The end of the world is no laughing matter... but the thought of it sure does lead to some interesting entertainment. The latest to use the apocalypse as a springboard to fun and games is Shapik: The Quest 2, the commercial sequel to a Samorost-style freeware adventure released in 2013.

In 2017, Little Kite introduced players to a young woman and her son as they attempt to deal with life in an abusive household. For the sequel, you'd be forgiven for expecting one of those characters to be the playable protagonist. Instead, it's the abusive husband and stepfather who steps into the lead role of Anate Studio's Repentant.

Life can be hell, but sometimes the afterlife can be worse. At least, it is for the protagonist of Deceptive Games' recently-released Silent Descent, a man accused of killing his wife who then committed suicide and is now destined to live out eternity trapped in his own personal purgatory.

An unsolved murder in a point-and-click mystery is like catnip to adventure fans – which is only fitting for Goloso Games's upcoming Inspector Waffles, a new retro-styled episodic series starring anthropomorphic cats.

After rattling gamers' nerves with the horror adventure Enola back in 2014, now The Domaginarium is turning its sights to the fantasy genre with their upcoming release – although The Dreamlands: Aisling's Quest will not be without a little haunting atmosphere of its own along the way.

Adventure games with amnesiac protagonists are not uncommon, but what if all of a sudden, no one at all can remember a thing? This unusual scenario is precisely the situation players will find themselves confronting in next year's release of Scarecrow Studio's 3 Minutes to Midnight.
