Solo prepares to go public next month

Love, whether we like to admit it or not, can challenge us and rattle our nerves, especially during stressful times in our lives. Team Gotham’s upcoming Solo, however, allows players to reflect on love in a relaxing, introspective way. And what better place to do so than a group of colorful islands inhabited by adorable characters?

The developers behind The Guest, in collaboration with narrative designer Jordi de Paco (Gods Will Be Watching, The Red Strings Club), have joined forces for a laid-back adventure that "welcomes players to challenge themselves at their own pace as they immerse themselves in the serene set of islands." Story-wise there aren't many details to speak of at the moment, but players assume the role of a sailor who travels between gorgeous archipelagos, each of which contains a Sleeping Totem that must be awakened to “answer a question about love and relationships.”

Solo’s puzzle-solving requires “combining blocks with different properties” in order to progress. Unlike most adventures, however, each puzzle here offers multiple solutions, giving players an opportunity to approach these situations from a number of different angles. Throw in colorful artwork and the ability to play "tranquil music" for the world's inhabitants, and the stage is set for a “contemplative atmosphere [that] provides a judgement-free space to ponder deep personal questions,” intended to let each player take away something unique from the experience.

Adventurers looking for a journey that's a little off the beaten path can set a course for Solo when it arrives on Windows PC via Steam on April 26th. While you wait, you can swing by the game’s official website for more information.
