How far would you go to track down the the scariest movie ever made? Well, you'll have the chance to find out next year in indie developer José María Meléndez's upcoming point-and-click pixel art adventure, Nightmare Frames.

Most detective games are about collecting clues and solving crimes. Not so in indie developer Mehrdad Rezaei's newly released Just Take Your Left, a comedic hand-animated adventure about outsmarting rodents and pesky ghosts.

No matter where we go in life, we'll never travel anywhere stranger than the realms of our own imaginations. This proves to be true once again in the recently released Enypnion, a short new point-and-click adventure from the creator of Yet Another Hero Story. 

Soon adventure gamers can step into the shoes of a bookstore owner who finds himself embroiled in a bizarre otherworldly mystery. No, sorry, it's not a new Gabriel Knight mystery, but rather the localized English version of Arrowiz's Hermitage: Strange Case Files, a Chinese visual novel-styled adventure coming later this year to PC and consoles. 

Travelling back to the past to prevent a tragedy from occurring would be challenging enough under any circumstances, but it's all the more so when you're just a robot the size of a toy truck, as is the case in Time Loader, an upcoming side-scrolling adventure from Flazm Interactive.

With Little Hope having just released for PC and consoles, it's already time to look ahead to House of Ashes, the next installment in Supermassive's Dark Pictures Anthology.

It's been almost four years since we last ventured into The Brotherhood's STASIS universe while the indie South African developers were busy making Beautiful Desolation. Next, though, the acclaimed sci-fi horror series is ... well, coming out of stasis in the form of STASIS: BONE TOTEM. Better yet, while we need to wait another year-plus for the complete game, a playable demo is available now to whet gamers' appetites. 

If you’ve ever had the feeling that spending just one more day at your job (or dealing with the people you see there) might drive you batty, point-and-click comedic adventure Not Another Weekend, set for release next year, just might promise to be a cathartic experience.

With the threat of disease hanging heavily in the air these days, perhaps it's not surprising that new games are embodying a pervasive death-based fascination. One first to be unveiled is DarkStone Digital's The Mortuary Assistant, an upcoming sim-adventure that places you all alone with the dead in a funeral home. 

You've heard of the whodunit? Well, Giiku Games' newly released Fateful End: True Case Files is more of a whogonnadoit, and the victim in question will be you if you're unable to solve it in time. 

Video games are primarily a visual medium, but what happens when you can't rely on your eyes? This is both the challenge and the appeal of Obscurium, an upcoming WWI point-and-click horror adventure from dad-and-daughter indie developers Scott and Audrey Lininger of Infinite Underworld, who are currently raising funds for the game through Kickstarter. 

The Halloween gaming treats just keep on coming, this time in the form of Visage, a first-person psychological horror adventure emerging out of Early Access for PC and consoles.

You are locked inside your home, every day seems the same, and the prospect of going outside is frightening. No, I'm not talking about real life – this is the premise behind the newly released dark comedy adventure, Shut In.

Full motion video continues to make something of a comeback, from Her Story to The Complex to The Shapeshifting Detective, to name just a few of an increasing number of live-action releases in recent years. Another new interactive FMV adventure to join the ranks soon enough will be indie Polish developer Madnetic Games' Lost Lies when it is released for PC next summer.
