Krillbite Studio scared the bejeebers out of us in 2014 with our childhood fears in Among the Sleep. Now the indie Norwegian developer is setting its sights on purely adult anxieties in the form of its upcoming Mosaic.

While the days of $3 million-plus Kickstarter campaigns may be over for adventure games, the popular crowdfunding platform continues to be a boon for smaller indie developers. Just days after the successful close of Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure, now Lantern Studio's LUNA: The Shadow Dust has followed suit.

There seems to be no slowing down Glitch Games. Hot on the heels of their recently-released A Short Tale comes news of the indie UK developer's next adventure, The Forgotten Room.

Usually the only dinosaurs involved in adventure games are the old PCs playing them, but there will soon be a not-so-terrible lizard starring in her own Cretaceous quest. Enter Zid & Zniw Chronicles: Zniw Adventure, an indie point-and-click title currently in development by Polish couple Lukasz “Crash” Mikolajczyk and Karolina “Twarda” Twardosz.

It seemed like we'd heard the last of indie developer Michael B. Clark following the 2004 release of The Arrangment, but as the master of his own destiny, Clark had other ideas. And now he's let us in on his plans with the demo release of his upcoming adventure, The Fate of It All.

Lots of adventure games have used full motion video over the years, sometimes even extensively. But exclusively? Not so much. But that's the principle behind a new psychological horror game in development called The Bunker, due for release later this year.

The age of virtual reality is upon us, and one of the first such games to hit the market is Robot Invader's Dead Secret. That doesn't mean that non-VR gamers are left out in the cold, however, as the game is available for standard PCs as well.

In Deliver Us the Moon, the forthcoming episodic survival adventure from indie Dutch developer KeokeN, you'll get the chance to find out just how beautiful it looks up there. Except, of course, it's never that simple; you've got nefarious plots to uncover and the whole population of that blue marble to save, too. 

The Turing Test is meant to be the definitive measurement of machine sentience, but this summer we humans will be put through our own strenuous examination when The Turing Test is released as an interactive adventure this summer.

Musicals are few and far between when it comes to video games, but perhaps the tide is turning. Hot on the heels of the cast numbers in Deponia Doomsday comes a brand new episodic "point-and-click musical" called Midnight at the Celestial Palace, which is set to debut later this year.

Adventure gamers are experienced thieves, but you'll need to be at your burgling best in indie developer Spider Key Games' newly-released Spellbind.

If there's one thing that adventure games have taught us, it's that exploring creepy castles in the dark on your own is probably not a great idea. Unless you enjoy scaring the bejeebers out of yourself, in which case you'll be happy to know that UnderDread has now opened its own castle doors to intrepid adventurers.

Last year, an unheralded little adventure called MechaNika introduced adventure gamers to Mango Protocol's offbeat, appropriately twisted "Psychotic" world, a meta setting in which the indie Spanish developer has plans for multiple stories. The next such adventure to take place in this world is Agatha Knife, a spin-off prequel of sorts, taking place before the events of its predecessor with a new lead protagonist.

By themselves, both climate change and nuclear war could drastically alter the way humanity functions, but what if both of these catastrophes came along to wipe us out? This is the apocalyptic premise of the upcoming episodic adventure The Descendant, set to debut later this month from Swedish developer Gaming Corps.
