Many (fictional) tragedies have occurred in pursuit of eternal life, but rarely have so many happened to one family, as they do in The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story, a live-action Japanese mystery from h.a.n.d. and Square Enix that is due to arrive this spring.

Indie Turkish developer Tonguç Bodur has carved out quite a niche for himself with a variety of atmospheric exploratory adventures over the years, most notably the Drizzlepath series, but they've largely been limited to PC. Now, however, one of Bodur's other adventures is making its way onto consoles in the form of The Dead Tree of Ranchiuna.

Full-motion video games are officially experiencing a renaissance following their premature demise in the mid- to late-nineties. No longer hindered by technological restraints, modern developers are taking full advantage of what interactive cinema can bring. One such designer is Paul Raschid, who previously directed The Complex and Five Dates and is now putting the finishing touches on a new live-action adventure called The Gallery.

The Expanse has drawn plenty of critical acclaim throughout its five-year run on Amazon Prime, but with the popular sci-fi series about to launch its sixth and final season, the end appeared near. Not so, however, as the franchise is poised to expand itself in the form of a new episodic game series from Telltale, Deck Nine Games and the Alcon Interactive Group.

It's been a long time since the last adventure game in the Star Trek universe, but that is due to change next year with a new Telltale-style narrative adventure by Dramatic Labs called Star Trek: Resurgence.

Dysfunctional family gatherings can be killers, but usually that's meant more figuratively than literally. Not so in Wales Interactive and Good Gate Media's upcoming interactive FMV mystery, Who Pressed Mute on Uncle Marcus?

It may take two to tango, and two with superpowers to escape a hi-tech research facility, but it only takes one person to play Flaming Llama Games' newly released dual-character puzzle adventure, Twogether: Project Indigos.

The witching hour of Halloween is nearly upon us, which means it's time for all manner of creepy things to crawl out of the woodwork. One such spine-tingling treat to emerge from the shadows is Path Games' Insomnis, a first-person horror adventure available now exclusively on PlayStation platforms.

Supermassive Games certainly doesn't rest on their laurels. Mere days after the launch of House of Ashes comes word of the fourth standalone installment in The Dark Pictures Anthology, a "season finale" called The Devil In Me.

Adventure games are traditionally solo affairs, but some involve elements of cooperative puzzle solving between multiple characters to succeed. French developer Monochrome has made this dual-character element the primary gameplay focus in their newly released Tandem: A Tale of Shadows, in which shadows can be platforms and gravity is in the eye of the beholder. There's a magical mansion to explore in its surreal Victorian-era world, and it's down to a little girl and a bear to uncover its secrets.

The husband-and-wife team at D’Avekki Studios will soon be back with another new FMV adventure, and this time they're bringing some 3D exploration and procedurally generated mystery elements along with them in the form of Murderous Muses.

We're less than a month past the launch of Life Is Strange: True Colors but you can never have too much of a good thing, and today comes the surprise news of a prequel DLC chapter for the game called Wavelengths.

For many people, Norse mythology surely conjures up images of Thor and his hammer, or possibly one-eyed Odin, but most have probably never heard of the mighty kraken-like Hafgúfa or the fox-cat Skoffin that can kill you with its stare. Or any of the numerous other mythical creatures and less-familiar sagas of Nordic folklore. Island of Winds, by Icelandic studio Parity Creative House, will aim to change that, as well as introduce players to the culture and history of 17th century pagan Iceland, when it's released for PC and PlayStation 5 next year.

Many of us have probably wished everyone would just leave us alone at some point in our lives. But be careful what you wish for, as you just might get it. Indonesian developer Gamecom Team offers us a glimpse of what life would be like to really be left alone in A Day Without Me, the 2020 isometric adventure that will be available today on additional consoles.

Nightmares can be weird, somehow both absurdly ridiculous and super scary. As in, you can be frantically trying to escape an abandoned building, heart pounding out of your chest at every creak and dead end, when you run into a giant teapot and a woman with a fish for a head. Hold that thought, because it's being turned into a game in the form of Dying: 1983, by Chinese indie studio 2P Games.
