Life Is Strange: True Colors adds new layer with DLC Wavelengths

We're less than a month past the launch of Life Is Strange: True Colors but you can never have too much of a good thing, and today comes the surprise news of a prequel DLC chapter for the game called Wavelengths.

Taking place throughout the year before True Colors protagonist Alex Chen arrives back in Haven Springs, this chapter sees players take control of Steph, the DJ first introduced in Before the Storm, after she relocates from Arcadia Bay. Across four different seasons, we'll have the chance to "step into Steph's radio booth" as host of her own show on KRCT, Haven Springs' "best – and only – radio station." In between, as she works her day job and interacts with others around her, we will also "discover more about Steph's past and her relationships as she makes her mark on the record store and uncovers its secrets."

Katy Bentz once again voices Steph, this time with a much bigger role than before. While the young protagonist is on the air, you can "choose records for the playlist, 'ad lib' your way through local commercials, and help Steph compose an own original song," as well as offer "D20-powered advice to callers with problems both serious and mundane, GM a tabletop RPG, and reach out to reconnect with an old friend." Challenges await off-air too, as Steph must contemplate how to swipe on dating app matches even as she "embraces her new job, reckons with her past, and defines her future in Haven Springs." As you'd expect, music plays a central role here, and Wavelengths features an all-new soundtrack to accompany Steph's journey, including songs by "Girl in Red, Alt-J, Portugal, The Man, Foals, Hayley Kiyoko, Maribou State, and more ... each packing an emotional punch."

Available exclusively as DLC for the base game Life Is Strange: True Colors, Wavelengths can only be purchased as part of the Deluxe Upgrade, Deluxe Edition, or Ultimate Edition on PC, PS4|5, Xbox One and Series X|S, GeForce NOW and Google Stadia, with a Switch version to follow later this year.
