French developer DONTNOD has been busy working on other properties (Tell Me Why, Twin Mirror) since their last foray into the universe for which they're best known. But that doesn't mean the Life Is Strange franchise has been neglected in the meantime; it's merely been handed off to Deck Nine Games for the next installment, True Colors.

Stop me if you've heard this one before: a naive tourist stumbles across a mysterious cult plotting to change with world through murder and tumbles into the seedy underbelly of a beautiful city, fighting for his life. Nope, it's not the latest Broken Sword game or Dan Brown novel, but rather Mozart Requiem from Californian studio HR Games. Full of mystery, music and mayhem, this one is aimed squarely at those who like their conspiracies with a side of historical intrigue.

While many of us are looking forward to leaving the cold of winter behind, we'll gladly begin looking ahead to the next Antarctic co-op puzzle excursion from Total Mayhem Games, this one entitled We Were Here Forever.

If you missed out on the pixel art adventure Retrace when it was launched on PC early last year, you've now got a second chance as the game has been ported and rereleased as Retrace: Memories of Death on consoles.

For most of us, getting home from work is a mundane, everyday experience completely devoid of drama. Quite the opposite is true for the protagonist of The Plane Effect, an upcoming dystopian adventure from Innovina Interactive and Studio Kiku.

When family relationships are strained, a bonding activity can sometimes help to reduce the tension and repair frayed ties. But how might you fare if a vacation intended to heal your relationship turned into a life-and-death struggle for survival? This is the premise of My Father My Son, an upcoming dual-character platforming adventure by Polish developer Blinkclick Games.

When it comes to gaming, a letter from a grandparent can only mean one thing: time for an adventure! And that's precisely the case with DREAMERS, an open-world third-person 3D adventure by PlaySys coming later this year.

They say you can never go home again, but that's not really true. You CAN go home again ... just beware what you might find when you do. This will certainly be true in I Saw Black Clouds, a new interactive FMV mystery coming soon from Ghost Dog Films.

In the real world, our shadows follow wherever we go. Not necessarily so in dream worlds, however, as is the case in Shady Part of Me, a newly released puzzle-platformer from indie developer Douze Dixièmes.

Road trip adventures have always held a certain appeal, but surely never more so than at a time when we're all cooped up and itching to get out. Fortunately, it's looking more and more likely that we'll be able to do just that next year – not only physically, but virtually as well in the form of Open Roads, a new adventure from Fullbright, the creator of Gone Home and Tacoma.

Adventure games are usually about brains over brawn, but occasionally they let us have both. (Who doesn't fondly remember delivering satisfying knuckle sandwiches to Nazis in Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis?) Another such game that intends to give players the best of both worlds is BROK the InvestiGator, an upcoming classic adventure / beat 'em up hybrid from COWCAT.

Cats seem to see the world very differently from us, but in French developer BlueTwelve Studio's upcoming feline adventure Stray, it's the world itself that is much different than our own.

Psychological horror fans will soon get the chance to return to the world of 2012’s Anna with the upcoming release of Nascence, the first title in a planned trilogy of standalone adventures called “Anna’s Songs.” The new game will continue to “explore the relationship we have with religions, organized and not,” while expanding upon the story of its predecessor, though it does not require knowledge of Anna to fully appreciate.

While the primary goal of video games is usually to transport players to new places and challenge with brain-teasing puzzles, there have been an increasing number of attempts in recent years to tackle serious topics. To that end, indie Spanish developer Calathea Game Studio’s upcoming first-person adventure Inner Ashes seeks to both educate and entertain with a narrative told from the perspective of a man suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

With Little Hope having just released for PC and consoles, it's already time to look ahead to House of Ashes, the next installment in Supermassive's Dark Pictures Anthology.
