At first glance you'd certainly be forgiven for thinking The Frogs was another game in Joe Richardson's series of Renaissance-themed adventures (Four Last Things and its sequels), but while it may look similar, the upcoming point-and-click adventure by indie developer Michael Wells tells a much different story in an entirely different era altogether.

Usually the term "on rails" refers to a highly linear experience over which the player has little control. But sometimes it's meant far more literally than that, as is the case in Pomeshkin Valentin Igorevich's recently released steampunk adventure, Pnevmo-Capsula: Domiki.

Looking for work can be an adventure, but usually not the sort they make games about. Fortunately the search for employment promises to be a whole lot more fun than sending out CVs and attending interviews in Sugarpunch Games' upcoming Behind the Beyond, a fantastical point-and-click comic adventure inspired by Hungarian folklore.

You never know when adventure will come calling. I mean, there you are, just going about your day, maybe daydreaming or thinking what's for dinner, and then bam! You're hurtling through a portal to parts unknown (but probably very wacky). In the swashbuckling spirit of the genre's classics, it'll soon be time once again to put common sense aside and brace for comedy hijinks in A Twisted Tale, the upcoming debut by German indie studio Voodoo Bembel.

Time flies when you're having fun, but when you're anxiously awaiting something, it can feel like time slows practically to a standstill. Both should prove to be true in indie French developer ObeQaen's newly released Until 9:15 a.m., as players have fun helping a young child find a way to get time moving again.

The story of animals suddenly having their world turned upside down by the invasion of aggressive machinery is all too alarmingly real, and yet in the right hands it can be the subject of great entertainment as well. Solo German developer Hans Klöpfel of WatchDaToast looks to tap into this environmental theme in a fantastical way with his debut adventure Beyond the Edge of Owlsgard sometime next year.

If the story of a shiftless young man traveling to Central Europe to uncover his family legacy sounds familiar, you're on the right track with regards to an upcoming new FMV adventure from indie developer Flimmersoft. But here it's not Gabriel Knight in the starring role, but the titular protagonist of the fan-made Markus Ritter: Ghosts of the Past, which is currently seeking crowdfunding through Kickstarter.

The challenges facing Hong Kong these days are well documented, but they're nothing compared to the devastation that has already befallen the region in indie developer Navi's upcoming memory-driven adventure, Man Without Organs.

Numbers stations are one of the more curious relics of Cold War spycraft, consisting simply of numerical sequences broadcast over shortwave radio. Seemingly random to outsiders and intriguing to ham radio enthusiasts, they were nonetheless a crucial way of distributing information to agents in the field. To Polish studio Sons of Welder, this search for meaning in the apparently meaningless is an apt metaphor for modern life and represents the core of their newly released puzzle adventure Magnus Failure, the first in a planned series.

Some games take longer than others to make. The most basic can be completed in a matter of months, while many can take years. Then then are games like Ingo Stuckenbrock's of pawns & kings, which has been in some form of development for over twenty-five years! At long last the project appears poised to reach its conclusion, though it's going to need some help on Kickstarter if it's to finally reach the finish line.

It's hard to move on in the afterlife when your whole family suddenly died under mysterious circumstances, as you'll want to linger a while and see if you can learn what happened. A little supernatural investigating is precisely what's on tap in Detective from the Crypt, a newly released point-and-click adventure from the creator of last year's Cat and Ghostly Road.

The Internet is practically ubiquitous in 2021 (good thing, or you might not be reading this otherwise), but at least in the fictional world there's one place left where it's still largely shunned. Adventure gamers can head to this scenic, remote Spanish town for themselves next year when the husband-and-wife team at Aruma Studios release their debut commercial adventure, Intruder in Antiquonia.

Lamps have been indispensible adventure game tools since the very early text days, but never has one been more important than in the upcoming Adventure Light, a LIMBO-like side-scroller that is currently raising funds through Kickstarter.

Normally you'd go to a pet store to find "critters for sale," but it's Steam you'll need to visit to find indie developer Sonoshee's newly released surreal five-part adventure compilation by that name.

Rutabagas may sound like the perfect clean and renewable fuel source, but there's just one problem when you're in outer space: they can be awfully hard to come by. Finding more will be the next zany task for Sir Typhil and his ragtag band of misfits in Vagabond Starship, the next game from indie developer Stand Off Software.
