Guns don't kill people, they reverse time! Well, one does, at least, in indie UK developer Stubby Games' upcoming first-person environmental puzzler, The Entropy Centre.

The husband-and-wife team at D’Avekki Studios will soon be back with another new FMV adventure, and this time they're bringing some 3D exploration and procedurally generated mystery elements along with them in the form of Murderous Muses.

If you think the almighty dollar rules most of our own world's developed countries, wait'll you see you capitalism running amok on a galactic scale in Space Boat, an upcoming sci-fi adventure by Recombobulator Games starring an alien feline detective disguised in a humanoid mechanical suit. Perhaps it's only fitting, then, that a Kickstarter for the game has been launched in order to help finance its production.

M9 Games has taken players to a number of different locales in recent times, from scenic Spanish islands to secret installations and even submarine bases hidden deep in the forest. The newest release from the prolific indie solo developer will take us to much dustier, drier climes in the treasure-hunting quest called DORADO.

We're less than a month past the launch of Life Is Strange: True Colors but you can never have too much of a good thing, and today comes the surprise news of a prequel DLC chapter for the game called Wavelengths.

Time flies when you're having fun, but when you're anxiously awaiting something, it can feel like time slows practically to a standstill. Both should prove to be true in indie French developer ObeQaen's newly released Until 9:15 a.m., as players have fun helping a young child find a way to get time moving again.

If your soul hasn't yet been condemned to hell for enjoying Joe Richardson's satirically sacrilegious Four Last Things and The Procession to Calvary, you'll soon get another chance in their upcoming spiritual successor, Death of the Reprobate.

Adventure games with protagonists locked in asylums aren't all that uncommmon. What is uncommon is playing not a patient but a psychologist imprisoned there and forced to escape. This is the premise of Corvus Studio's upcoming three-part puzzle-adventure series 13:Origin, whose free standalone prologue has just been released along with a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.

For many people, Norse mythology surely conjures up images of Thor and his hammer, or possibly one-eyed Odin, but most have probably never heard of the mighty kraken-like Hafgúfa or the fox-cat Skoffin that can kill you with its stare. Or any of the numerous other mythical creatures and less-familiar sagas of Nordic folklore. Island of Winds, by Icelandic studio Parity Creative House, will aim to change that, as well as introduce players to the culture and history of 17th century pagan Iceland, when it's released for PC and PlayStation 5 next year.

Horror fans are suckers for punishment. Case in point: After surviving the Lovecraftian perils of Alessandro Guzzo's The Land of Pain in 2017, you'd think anyone who lived to tell the tale would be wise enough not to tempt fate a second time. But that will surely not be the case for much longer, not when there are about to be new cosmic terrors to scare the bejeebers out of us in the upcoming spiritual successor, The Alien Cube.

Rather than having great detectives solve impossible cases without much player involvement beyond steering them around, recently there's been an increased trend toward deductive reasoning as we're challenged to solve complex whodunits entirely on our own. This will be the case once again in two-man indie developer Color Gray Games' upcoming historical murder mystery The Case of the Golden Idol.

With Halloween only a little over a month away, it's time to start thinking about stocking up on treats. Candy, sure, but also a little seasonal gaming fun, such as Open Arcana's Ghost Follows, a "spooky but warmhearted" haunted house adventure that is currently seeking funding through Kickstarter in order to finish in time to launch next month.

Adventure games often feature stories based on mythology and history, and in recent years there has been an uptick in the number of titles that celebrate the cultural heritage of previously overlooked indigenous communities from around the world. Red Stage Entertainment's upcoming Skábma: Snowfall is another such game, drawing inspiration from the traditions of the Northern European Sámi people.

They say two heads are better than one, and perhaps nowhere has that been more true than in Antler Studios' Forest Grove, in which players can literally jump on the head of their friend and companion to navigate lovely but potentially deadly environments.

If making our pain go away were as easy as ringing a bell, we'd probably all grab the rope and heave without a moment's hesitation. But what if the consequence of such an action meant the destruction of an entire island and its inhabitants? This is the fate that awaits us in Cogoo's upcoming sci-fi/fantasy adventure, Rocco's Island: Ring to End the Pain.
