Best rated Adventure Games for Mac page 22

Below you'll find an overview of Adventure Games that have received a very high rating based on our reviews, the list is sorted based on highest rated Adventure Game first combined with recency of the review we've done.

Space Quest: Chapter I - The Sarien Encounter  (1986)

Undeniably flawed, yet undeniably fun, the original Space Quest is perfect for classic adventure lovers and sci-fi fans. As 1/6th of the bargain-priced 2006 Space Quest Collection, there’s no excuse not to play it.

Space Quest I: Roger Wilco in the Sarien Encounter (SCI remake)  (1991)

Undeniably flawed, yet undeniably fun, the original Space Quest is perfect for classic adventure lovers and sci-fi fans. As 1/6th of the bargain-priced 2006 Space Quest Collection, there’s no excuse not to play it.

Penumbra: Overture  (2007)

The emphasis on physics adds a unique dimension to Penumbra: Overture. If you're willing to sacrifice story for atmosphere, it's a decent catch for horror fans, but those looking for point-and-click fare may be turned off by unavoidable action elements.

Maniac Mansion  (1987)

An important piece of gaming history that every self-respecting adventure gamer should experience once, and offers enough solid gameplay to make it worthwhile.

AGON: The Mysterious Codex

Perhaps the Codex will finally bring an unheralded series the attention it deserves. There's no new content, but those unfamiliar with the series should definitely give this release a closer look.

King’s Quest III: To Heir is Human  (1986)

The most potentially frustrating of the first three AGI games in the King's Quest series, but also the most rewarding.

Bone: Out from Boneville  (2005)

A fun (although short) romp through a charming world that will be a hit with children as well as adults.

ECHO: Secrets of the Lost Cavern  (2005)

ECHO is polished and technically well done. The prehistoric setting is new in adventure games, and although the game's educational slant may not appeal to everyone, most of the background reading is optional. If you like your games puzzle-heavy and story-light, ECHO is for you.

AGON: Pirates of Madagascar  (2004)

A definite step forward for the AGON series. The third episode is bigger and better in every way, and held back only by a few unfortunate design choices. The developers are learning, which bodes well for the potential of future installments.

The Messenger  (2000)

A very entertaining game that successfully transcends its edu-tainment leanings.

The Egyptian Prophecy  (2004)

The combination of realistic architecture, history, surrealistic gods and magic will draw you in, but the been-there-done-that take on the puzzles and the journey's short length might not be enough to hold your interest.

Full Throttle  (1995)

The memorable characters and above-average graphics and music assure that it belongs out of the adventure scrap heap.

King’s Quest VII: The Princeless Bride  (1994)

An eminently playable, if not revolutionary, adventure game.

Dark Fall: The Journal  (0)

A very well-designed ghost story from a very promising developer, and well worth the purchase for suspense and first-person fans.

Physicus  (2003)

A great learning adventure that includes a unique database full of physics-related phenomena that will remain useful long after the game has ended.

Loom  (1990)

A rewarding and enjoyable gaming experience. While it lasts, that is.

The Curse of Monkey Island  (1997)

A great game, but let down by its brevity.

Lighthouse: The Dark Being  (1996)

Entertaining and beguiling game, however, if you hate mazes steer clear.

Dracula: The Last Sanctuary  (2001)

Better than Dracula Resurrection and worth picking up. However, it falls short of greatness

McPixel  (2012)

It’s certainly an acquired taste, but McPixel can be a hoot in small doses when embraced as a manic, rapid-fire celebration of all the worst aspects of retro adventure games.

Nelson and the Magic Cauldron: The Journey  (2022)

Feeling more like an expansion than a complete game, Nelson and the Magic Cauldron: The Journey refines the series’ technical aspects and continues the comically absurd adventures of its eponymous hero for those already initiated to his world.
