Best rated Adventure Games for Mac page 28

Below you'll find an overview of Adventure Games that have received a very high rating based on our reviews, the list is sorted based on highest rated Adventure Game first combined with recency of the review we've done.

Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poe’s Murders in the Rue Morgue  (2010)

While its lite gameplay can be a fun way to explore beautiful fin de siècle Paris for an afternoon, if you’re looking for some real detective work, you may want to pass on by Rue Morgue.

Space Quest IV: Roger Wilco and the Time Rippers  (1991)

Space Quest IV represents a technological leap forward that is sadly burdened with a stand-still game design. Often frustrating and overly difficult, it still contains enough humor and charm to keep players from too easily tearing themselves away.

Dream Chronicles 2: The Eternal Maze  (2008)

A noticeable improvement over the original, Dream Chronicles 2 nevertheless retains a few too many common adventure-like problems to fulfill its evident potential.

The Fall Trilogy: Chapter 1 - Separation  (2009)

If you dislike hidden object activities, you may be disappointed by Separation, but for those who don’t mind some casual game elements, the quality puzzles and setting make for an otherwise enjoyable experience.

Avenue Flo  (2009)

Avenue Flo is a simple but charming little casual adventure experience, though it may be too "lite" to suit anyone's tastes ideally.

Still Life 2  (2009)

Still Life 2 has too little polish to bear close comparison to the original, but its compelling story makes the sequel an interesting game in its own right.

Penumbra: Requiem  (2008)

Makes an entertaining addendum to Penumbra; just don’t expect it to be as good as, or even similar to, the previous games.

Space Quest II: Chapter II - Vohaul’s Revenge  (1987)

Despite plenty of opportunities for frustration, there’s enough humor and clever design to make it worth soldiering through the rough patches. As 1/6th of the bargain-priced 2006 Space Quest Collection, there’s no excuse not to play it.

AGON: The Lost Sword of Toledo  (2008)

The first full-length AGON episode is a decent puzzle adventure, but The Lost Sword of Toledo won't be eliciting shouts of "olé!" from anyone but existing fans of the series.

Cleopatra: Riddle of the Tomb  (2007)

If you’re in the mood for a light and unintimidating adventure to fill your ancient Egypt whim, give Cleopatra a whirl. Anyone looking for a little more substance will need to keep looking.

King’s Quest V: Absence Makes the Heart Go Yonder!  (1990)

A step forward in graphics and interface; a step backward in story and character development. Play it if you're a King's Quest fan, but if you're just looking for a good point-and-click game, skip ahead to KQVI, which is so much better.

King’s Quest II: Romancing the Throne  (1985)

If you enjoyed the first game in the series you'll probably like King's Quest II. But unless you're open to a very rudimentary playing experience, you're better off downloading AGD Interactive's remake (an excellent game in its own right), or skipping ahead to one of the later, more advanced games in the series.

King’s Quest  (1984)

If you're looking for a short, simple fantasy game and have nostalgia for the classics, the original King's Quest just may fit the bill. If you like your games a little more refined but can still hold your own with a text parser, check out Sierra's SCI remake. Or to see where it all began without the pain of reliving the 80s, play AGD Interactive's VGA remake, a faithful (and free!) point & click adaptation that has been endorsed by the copyright holders.

Roberta Williams’ King’s Quest I: Quest for the Crown (SCI remake)  (1990)

If you're looking for a short, simple fantasy game and have nostalgia for the classics, the original King's Quest just may fit the bill. If you like your games a little more refined but can still hold your own with a text parser, check out Sierra's SCI remake. Or to see where it all began without the pain of reliving the 80s, play AGD Interactive's VGA remake, a faithful (and free!) point & click adaptation that has been endorsed by the copyright holders.

Alida  (2004)

A quality product for its given niche of first-person graphic adventures. If you enjoy this sort of game, Alida is a worthwhile experience. Otherwise, set your sights on different fare.

The Journeyman Project  (1993)

A worthy introduction to the Journeyman Project universe that lays groundwork for the sequels; recommended mostly to those planning on playing the entire trilogy.

AGON: Adventures in Lapland  (2003)

While still a game worth playing, Lapland doesn’t move the series forward as much as keep it running in place.

The 7th Guest  (1993)

A lack of the elements that make an adventure timeless make this simply a good game.

Chemicus  (2002)

A good, solid, successful edutainment title, which could have excelled as an adventure were it given a meatier story.

Hopkins FBI  (1998)

If you’re the sort of person who likes this sort of thing, then this is the sort of thing you’ll like. I did!

The Dig  (1995)

Sci-fi fans and Myst addicts might enjoy, but the average adventure gamer can do quite a bit better.
