Chiming in for Broken Age, if it makes any difference Smile

I don’t get it, how BA could be added when only just 20-30% of the whole game is out, yet to be completed the next year. it like pushing in Tales from the Borderlands as a candidate when only one episode is out, could that really work?

Yeah, the Broken Age nomination doesn’t make any sense. It’s an incomplete game, not even an episode, that doesn’t have a release date yet.

I see your point, but would flat out ignoring one of the best adventure games in years and years be better? I don’t know. Well, it’s no problem really if it’s not included, I was thinking game quality rather than completion.  Wink

For me personally Broken Age, as it is now, doesn’t have enough “qualities” to qualify, but if enough members think that even broken Grin like this is better than some other complete games, then it should be included.
There are many other works of art (paintings, symphonies, sculptures, buildings…) that were never finished, yet are still considered among the greatest of their kind.

Similar could be said for Toonstruck that was also cut in half (rather brutally) due to budgetary constraints and the second part was never released and it still is in the AG’s TOP 100 and rightfully so.

But if majority of members think that Broken Age should be excluded, I will agree with that.

My thought Bogi is that if nominated games that qualify (because enough people have put them forward) are ultimately up for being knocked out (maybe) in further voting I don’t see any problem myself with them being included & I really don’t have an angle on this as I haven’t yet played Broken Age. Otherwise doesn’t a ‘jury’ beforehand as to whether it should be included or not upset the democratic process?

In the end its incompleteness can only be its undoing so I think the position of other games is in no way jeopardized by its inclusion.

It got the votes, so that means there are enough people who think that even this small part of the game is great enough for them. It is the first part of a game. Much like Deponia!

Agree. Kentucky Route Zero is also on the list but nobody demands its exclusion. People just want it there Smile

I just completed Broken Sword 5 and overall I think it’s one of the best if not the best adventure that came out in the last few years, so it definitely has one more vote.

Now with addition of 4 more games:

Overclocked, The Dagger of Amon Ra, The Moment of Silence and Broken Sword 5,

we have only 3 more free slots in the competition, so it seems that the list of competitors would be regularly completed.

I’ll add my votes for:
Runaway
Secret Files 2
Secret Files 3
Tesla Effect (Tex Murphy)
The Black Mirror 2
The Black Mirror 3

Also I think the Art of Murder Games are a tad underrated so I would like to add

Art of Murder 3: Cards of Destiny

Ha, I sincerely love this thread. This tournament will be such a fun, positive way to celebrate AGs. Grin

We’re getting down to the wire now with just a few slots left so it’s campaigning time!

I’ll do my part and just remind everyone that right now there are no text adventures that have been voted into the tournament. Cry

It was decided earlier in the thread (see here and here) that the #50 slot of AG’s Top 100 which groups all Infocom text adventures together wasn’t going to work well for elimination tournament purposes.

Therefore we are nominating some text adventures (Infocom and otherwise) individually. So far, there are some text adventures with one, two, or three nominating votes, but none with the four nominating votes needed to actually enter the tournament alongside the AG Top 100 99 games.

I know AG as a community focuses mainly on graphic adventures, but I also know we have some text adventure players here, who are probably more well-versed in that space than me. So make your voices heard! Thumbs Up

But I don’t want to vote on anything I haven’t played… Frown
