Anything Goes.
I also have that impression lately. It’s a bit boring at the moment. Hopefully that will improve soon.
Yeah, it’s been really quite here lately, especially in chit chat subforum. That’s why I’ve been posting lately, even do I usually don’t.
Everyone is probably busy preparing for the apocalypse/Christmas/New Year/holidays.
Talking about apocalypse, let’s see who around here actually believes something will happen/change on 21.12.12
Everything you need to know about me has already been told.
Sometjing will indeed happen! I’m going to have dinner with three lovely ladies, and afterwards we will go see The Hobbit in Amsterdam. I must say I don’t look forward to seeing that movie much but it will be gezellig, that’s for sure.

Ha, ha, ha, lucky you. Why aren’t you looking forward to seeing it, it’s been a long time since the last Lord of the Rings movie was made, plus Martin Freeman is playing Bilbo, and he was great in Sherlock alongside Benedict. I personally cannot wait to watch it.
P.S. you made me google what gezellig means in Dutch

I only saw the first LOTR movie and I was glad when that was over. But M. comes all the way from Switzerland to see me so I will sit through a movie she really wants to see.

I don’t post much anymore due to various reasons. One of them being both of my children having moved far from home. And the place to catch up with them is on facebook. So contrary to my previous attitude towards fb I nowadays frequently log on and post there.
I still log in here though. But since I temporarily -I presume- have lost my gaming desire it’s not as often as before. No worries thougn. I’m sure I’ll be back posting as I used to eventually.

Oh, a lady is coming all the way from Switzerland just to see you Be sure to report back to us on how it goes.

It must be hard for you not to be able to see your kids (though they aren’t kids anymore) all the time. I missed my mother after only a few days of holiday vacation. I guess I’m not ready to be separated from home yet.

So, on Saturday night I popped out for a curry with a friend of mine. Despite having had very little alcohol and a fairly mild curry, as soon as I got home (about 5 minutes after leaving the curry house) I felt bad. SERIOUSLY bad.
The obvious happened quickly and I won’t trouble you all with the details. However, whilst in the loo apparently I also managed to temporarily lose consciousness, falling over and breaking the pedestal of the sink with the back of my neck. I only know this as Mrs Degree heard a crash, came rushing in and saw me lying on my back in a pile of broken ceramics looking confused! I have no memory of that part of the incident!
She wanted to call an ambulance but as a) I got up again and obviously wasn’t dead; and b) no-one would believe I wasn’t blind drunk, eventually didn’t do it. The sickness and diarrhea soon passed, but my neck and lower back still feel like… well, like a great big fat guy just smashed a sink with them!
I went to the doctors and she almost managed not to laugh when I told her (and to be fair it is pretty funny!) and luckily it appears that I did nothing worse than badly bruise myself.
Anyway, in conclusion:
1. I managed to conduct a carol concert on Sunday Night even with injuries
2. It still hurts!
3. The friend who I went for a curry with was absolutely fine.
4. We will have to buy a new bathroom suite.
Anyone else do anything interesting on the weekend?

You’re a hero, Intense!
I will make Amsterdam unsafe together with some female friends of mine on Friday evening and Saturday! (And Thursday and Friday morning… ). Pics will follow.
(((Intese)))
What an evening! Imagine what would have happened had you eaten a strong curry and had several more pints!
And I just want to add (and I’ve actually met him) that Intense is not fat at all.

Have a great time with ‘the girls’! Try not to completely trash Amsterdam.

That is not totally up to me. I hope they will leave some stones unturned, MWUHAHA!!
@ Intense: sounds painful, but strangely badass…
@ tsa: have fun in A’dam! Give ‘em hell…
The truth can’t hurt you, it’s just like the dark: it scares you witless but in time you see things clear and stark. - Elvis Costello
Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka
The only heroics were the next day when my Dad came round and took out the remains of the pillar of the sink, replacing it with a block of wood, while I lay in bed generally feeling terrible!
Have a good time in Amsterdam tsa! Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do, but also don’t do what I did do last weekend!

I apologize for not posting more often as well. I’ve been missing the forums, but I’ve been pretty busy, so I don’t get in as often as I’d like.
Two newish albums and a brand new short story collection are available online, but I’m not posting links tonight because I’m tired of shilling my friends, and really, I just want to take it easy for the rest of the month and quietly plot my course for the next year. I’m hoping things will pick up considerably, but I think I’d be happy with a slow build in interest in my work. I’m not really trying to make it rich or anything, but it would be nice to eventually get out of debt and maybe move into a slightly bigger place. I think my wife is getting a little stir crazy packed so tightly into this apartment.
Anyway, that’s my lame excuse. I think Intense’ story was better. Hope you recover soon, man.
Season’s Greetings to everyone, old and new. *hugs all around*
Lee Edward McIlmoyle,
Probably NOT the kind of guy you think he is.
I’m proud of myself for having socialised with workmates today like how people who aren’t hopelessly neurotic can.
Hope your Christmases were good, too.
