Lamplight City - Detective Adventure in an Alternate “Victorian” Past
Teaser trailer!
The animation looks great. Did you use any rotoscoping?

Thank you! I mainly use rotoscoping
Looks great! One of my biggest expectations for next year.
Currently translating Strangeland into Spanish. Wish me luck, or send me money to my Paypal haha
A few new screenshots
Searching a murder victim’s apartment. Can you deduce what the dead man’s primary interest was?

Hmm, history? Geography?

At first glance, I thought it was Africa, but I see too many other cultures so I’m going with travel.
He even has one of those old chests at the bottom of the bed.
I would say Archaeology.

I would say Archaeology.
That makes sense although it doesn’t quite fit with the two pictures on the wall and the roll-desk.
Antiques, maybe?
Here’s a fresh batch of screenshots:

I wrote a blog post explaining what exactly I mean when I say that Lamplight City is a detective game where failure is okay.

I’m currently struggling with designing a detective game myself so this is very interesting. I guess the pitfall with this approach could be that the player gets annoyed when the mistakes piles up and you can’t correct anything besides replaying the entire game. If the players chances of figuring things out feels completely fair it could turn out great though.
