Text Adventure Playthrough #7: Christminster
Ok, I checked a walkthrough and I’m not sure it isn’t working… I think we are doing everything right.
Does checking for a green bottle work?
Ok, I checked a walkthrough and I’m not sure it isn’t working… I think we are doing everything right.

No. Did you check the previous steps to make sure we have all the right info?
It says something like match year after checking the bursar info and reading the book. Is such a verb possible? Then search third bin
The walkthrough I’ve seen is not very explicit.
I can find only ONE walkthrough and it’s useless. We’ve done everything and the WT doesn’t even provide us with the correct command to get the bottle. I suggest we use my spittle instead because right now I’m spitting with anger!
Cellars:
Note: have the brown bottle and/or read bottle to get the wine.
(Library: X Introitus Apertus -> explains spittle, gives date.
look up all the men on the plaques and match date.)
Wait for cook to open hatch, D, hide in alcove, wait until cook
leaves, turn on light, exit alcove, search bin 3, get bottle.
(green bottle with pale liquid) Knock on hatch, wait, knock.
Look under table in Dining Hall -> corkscrew.
[pale liquid is ‘spittle’ or ‘Virgin’s milk’]

I have no idea what “checking the bursar info” might be. We’ve read Maclane.
that’s the one I found
maybe read brown bottle?
Okay, something triggered it. Maybe it was reading the brown bottle, I don’t know.
>search bin 3
Looking at the bottles, all lined up in their rows, and comparing them to the bottle you found in the secret room, you notice one that has a mark on its cork that resembles the maker’s stamp. You pick up the bottle, and sure enough, it is there too, a raised stamp on the base.
Somewhere in the distance, the clock of Biblioll College strikes six o’clock.
You’re having trouble hanging onto all your possessions. You put “Men of Biblioll” into the handbag.
[Your score has just gone up by one point.]
WHAT THE F…!
This is ridiculous. Bad game! Bad game!
And now you have to restore an old save and do it all over again, Oscar.

Finally!!!
Now, there’s something at 6, right? (or was it 7?)
Now let’s do some cooking.
>knock on hatch
You knock, but no-one answers you.
>z
Time passes.

Time passes.

Time passes.
The hatch opens, and a woman peers in. “Come out, you silly girl! How stupid of you to get trapped down there, you should be more careful with your wandering around, I don’t know, and me with work to do…” You emerge rather shamefully from the cellars, and she closes and locks the hatch, before going back into the kitchens.
Outside the Kitchens
There is a closed hatch in the middle of the floor.

Great Hall
One end of the hall is occupied by the high table.
A long table extends across the remainder of the room.

An announcement is stapled to the south wall.

The elegant clock tower above the college chapel dominates the skyline to the northeast.
The gate is closed, but a little wicket gate stands open.

Edward Forbes’s Room
The door to B5 stands open.
Edward Forbes sits at his desk, furiously writing.
The gas ring is lit, and produces an erratic blue flame.
Now, there’s something at 6, right? (or was it 7?)
Dinner at 7. We should now make the concoction in Edward’s room. But first Oscar has to do it all over again, so we have the right stuff in the right containers.

Oh crap. Don’t tell me I have to do it all again and get the green bottle first!
Waaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Karlok can you take over!!
Okay, something triggered it. Maybe it was reading the brown bottle, I don’t know.
We DID read the words on the brown bottle when we found it! I don’t want to put the blame on you, Oscar, but isn’t it possible you restored a save where we hadn’t done that yet?

Totally possible. You guys had me jumping all over the place. I have about 60 saves.
You are forgiven.
