2017/2018 Sierra roulette playthrough
New year, time for a new big playthrough and this year I’m going to try to tackle the Sierra games library. I think it’s diverse and big enough to last the full year. It’s probably not going to be continuous but hoping to finish it this year…
Since it goes through so many years and has so many different series I’m not doing a chronologic playthrough like a previous Legend one, instead I’m going to randomly pick a game/series and stick with that one until finishing it.
Space Quest and Kings Quest are out because I played them recently. Phantasmagoria will only play 2 and Gabriel Knight only 3 for the same reason.
When the time starts to play Larry, Police Quest and Quest for Glory I’ll probably start a new thread for them because they have so many games, the rest of them will go here.
Like always please join in playing and with any kind of comments.
First task is to do the actual list of games to play:
Mystery House
Softporn Adventure
King’s Quest
Space Quest
Leisure Suit Larry
Police Quest
Gold Rush
Manhunter
Codename: Iceman
Laura Bow
Quest for Glory (On hold)
Conquest
Rise of the Dragon
Willy Beamish
EcoQuest
Gobliins
Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist
Inca
Lost in Time
The Prophecy
Gabriel Knight
Phantasmagoria
Shivers
Shivers 2
Torin’s Passage
Lighthouse
Rama
Urban Runner
Heart of China
The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble
The Black Cauldron
Mixed-Up Mother Goose (Deluxe)
Pepper’s Adventures in Time
Dr. Brain
Maybe missing some games?
Heart of China
The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble
An adventure game is nothing more than a good story set with engaging puzzles that fit seamlessly in with the story and the characters, and looks and sounds beautiful.

Thanks. Added
The list is bigger than I thought…
Anyway, the first game series to play is Manhunter
Maybe missing some games?
The Black Cauldron
Mixed-Up Mother Goose (Delux)
Pepper’s Adventures in Time
Torin’s Passage
the first game series to play is Manhunter
i can’t deal with its copy protection again tho it worth it, but i played two years ago.. have fun, with lots lots of gruesome death scenes and some unfair arcades, remember to post about the knives arcade scene, let me know how you dealt with it.
I didn’t realise there were that many
I’d be up for a GK3 playthrough

they are even much more if you have added the sequels to those titles with their series name only written..
i played them All
Manhunter: New York - 1988
Set in a post Apocalyptic future - year 2002 (lol, that’s distant past now…) The Earth has been invaded by some kind of giant eyeballs called Orbs, controlling everybody and making them use robes. Game is set in a devastated New York. The highest ranking a human can achieve is Manhunter, a kind of police working for the Orbs. The player controls a human selected to be a Manhunter on the first day on the job
I’m at day 3 now.
Mixed feelings about the game so far, liking the setting with dark vibe of a controlled human race set in a recognizable New York with some twists (Central Park in a mine field, etc).
Gameplay starts well, you have a computer that tracks the movement of suspects (since everybody has a tracker), you have to follow the suspects steps to figure what is going on. That leads to some pretty interesting puzzles. Uses a first person point and click interface that I suppose was pretty rare at the time, however I think it’s keyboard only.
The problem is some damn annoying arcade sequences that punctuate the game and are specially frustrating. Like this one:
It’s like the one in Mean Streets but obligatory and even more annoying. It’s doable, just boring.
Another one is the stuff of nightmares:
- A maze were you can’t touch the walls
A good thing about the game is that usually you don’t have to remember to save since it kind of does it automatically, when you die the game just rewinds a bit. (however, there are some dead ends)
More thoughts when I finish it.
The Black Cauldron
Mixed-Up Mother Goose (Delux)
Pepper’s Adventures in Time
Torin’s Passage

Torin is there. Added the others. Thanks.
Read above about the arcade sequences
I dealt with it by jumping, ducking and punching my way through multiple times…
New year, time for a new big playthrough
Softporn Adventure
Woah, Sierra was into this stuff, guess they were shallow and covering all grounds
And the legendary Roberta in bathtub, hahahaha
The game’s box cover and advertisement features three nude women and a male waiter in a hot tub, shot at Ken and Roberta Williams’s home. From left to right in the hot tub are Diane Siegel, On-Line’s production manager; Susan Davis, On-Line’s bookkeeper and the wife of Bob Davis, the creator of Ulysses and the Golden Fleece; Rick Chipman, an actual waiter from a local restaurant, The Broken Bit; and Roberta Williams
I cant even…
There is more, this game’s puzzles were later used for Larry

Wait, the waiter ia an actual waiter? Lol! always thought he was also from Sierra
thanks for the bubbles added over the photo we haven’t seen Roberta’s Nipples. why would anyone want to see it

I’ve only played GK 1 and 2 and started playing GK3 about a decade ago but have the Sierra humblebundle games on my ‘to play’ list. Which are the stand outs for you?
It’s actually here if anyone doesn’t have it: https://www.humblebundle.com/sierra-bundle-strikes-again
Which are the stand outs for you?
i ve made a list before which/where i was trying to *very objective, but if you ask about my standouts, it could easily be those 9 ags but with no particular order really.
Space Quest IV
Police Quest II
Woodruff and the Schnibble
King’s Quest IV
Conquests of the Longbow
Leisure Suit Larry III
The Dagger of Amon Ra
QfG: So You Want to Be a Hero
LSL7: Love for Sail!
I’m fond of the two Manhunter games, in spite of the frustrating action sequences. I loved the tracker system.

I’ve got to assume from his prior statements that Wilco intended to play all sequels to the named games. Unless he already played them recently.
So if he listed Laura Bow, Amon Ra would be included. Ditto every Larry after the original. (Except the revisited first game which he has played.)
It will be a daunting task. If he wants to post sources for the games he is playing, and/or DOSBox settings for games he is playing, I’m sure a few of us will join in for a few, but not all of his playthroughs.
For whom the games toll,
they toll for thee.

The tracker system is what I’m enjoying more, mostly because it makes for some good detective puzzles. For example mapping out the Central Park minefield or figuring out where each person went and why in a group that split up.

Yes, that’s the plan, to completely finish a series after starting. Not sure if it’s achievable but it’s a year plan.
The Dosbox settings I don’t usually mess with them so for Manhunter for example I didn’t change a thing before launching in Dosbox but so far is playing fine.
I’d be up for a GK3 playthrough
Ok, GK3 after the Manhunter series. And Phantasmagoria 2 after that to finish those series
