Chromatic memories: A technicolor tale of time

The Spanish indie studio Perla Oculta has announced the release of their new visual novel, Chromatic Memories, set to launch on Steam on June 19. Set in the Canary Islands during the early 2000s, the game explores an intriguing world where technology has enabled individuals to manipulate the minds of others, tampering with and even erasing their memories.

In Chromatic Memories, players will take on the role of Nayara, a memory painter who discovers she has been erasing her past recollections. Nayara embarks on a journey to uncover what she has been trying to hide, delving into her past, conversing with individuals from her memories, and gathering fragments of information to solve the mystery. The game features a unique mechanic where Nayara can tie specific memories to emotions and different points in time. Using pigments, Nayara can craft new colors through minigames, enabling players to recall certain events in her life or explore events that occurred at the same location but at different times.

The game allows players to embark on a visually stunning novel about grief, loss, memory, and acceptance. Players will navigate their memories, interact with characters, craft new colors for their investigations, and reconnect with lost friends through old phone numbers. Chromatic Memories is set in an alternate version of the Canary Islands in the 2000s, and features an eye-catching Fauvist art style inspired by avant-garde artists from the early 20th century. With this unique blend of storytelling and gameplay, Chromatic Memories is set to provide a unique gaming experience that explores the complex relationship between memory and identity.
