Adventure
Adventure is widely considered to be the first piece of interactive fiction and text adventure game. It was originally developed by William Crowther during 1975 and 1976 as a computerized simulation of his explorations of the Colossal Cave in Mammoth Cave National Park, with some added fantasy and puzzle elements. Don Woods expanded the game and added a score system in the version he first released in 1977. A large number of versions have been released since then.
The source code for Crowther’s original version can be downloaded from the IF Archive.
