HALLOWEEN - Week-day Special
To conclude the week’s theme here’s a scene from Tony Tough and the Night of Roasted Moths (2002).
P.I. Tony Tough’s search for his kidnapped ‘dog’ & his investigation to find the culprit who’s been stealing children’s candy on this day each year takes him to a Halloween Park. I loved the bright colourful graphics, voice-acting & humour of the game but remember finding some of the mainly inventory based puzzles quite challenging!
You’re not the only one who found some of the puzzles challenging!

Started it, but never proceeded much in the hope that it will be chosen for a CP some day.

It’s on my list, but will probably not be played any time soon (the list is too long and I’m making too little progress), unless it gets picked for a CP.
The truth can’t hurt you, it’s just like the dark: it scares you witless but in time you see things clear and stark. - Elvis Costello
Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka
I’ve never played the game but will take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy and Spooky Halloween! Have fun!
I could not stand the whiny voice in the English version of Tony Tough so I didn’t finish it.
Just as with Whispered World, the German version has a much better voice for the protagonist.

There’s quite a few interesting looking games that just don’t get an English language release at all - I liked the voices in Tony Tough but for the most part I would prefer English subtitles to subpar ‘dubbing’ & wish that more non-English developers would further their audience by including subtitles for different language speaking players if it’s difficult to cater for them any other way.

Yes, I would have preferred using the German language version with English subtitles—
or the option for subtitles instead of speech.
As it is, I’ve quit buying anything with a whiny protagonist.
I love this game, i played the English version and it was great. One of the few games I finished without a peek in a walkthrough.
Anyone ever played the sequel, A Rake’s Progress?
I don’t think you can find that one online. The first one can be bought at fireflower though.
Max: Right! We’ll travel through this dimensional portal on the top of the bar!
Sam: That’s spilled beer, rockhead.
Max: Oh in that case ...

Is that possible? I thought someone may have made a patch somewhere if it’s that bad. It should not be too hard if it is just a matter of combining the German version voices with the captions provided in the English version.

You must be pretty good at puzzles.

I have it. German-only. I’d love to play it, but it refuses to play properly.

I played it at the time. Very enjoyable little game full of black humour, reminded me of Simon the Sorcerer series a lot. I’d even say it was better than the first Tony. No idea why it was never translated into English.

Hey, you played it! What OS? I can’t get it to work.

I think it was Windows XP back then. But it doesn’t work on my current system either, no matter what
