I think I’ve pretty much run out of steam on this. It’s definitely the most definitive list on the subject, but seeing as it’s probably the only real attempt at making such a list, it kind of wins by default. Keep this thread in mind as you play games though and tell me if you come across anything new. Remember that any reference counts. If the main character in a game imitates Bela Lugosi’s voice and says “Blah! Blah! Blah!” I want to know about it, even if the subject is never broached again in the game.
Oh, and if you have any opinions about any of these games, positive or negative, feel free to praise/rant about them here. As an example, I think Dracula 3, the highest rated game in that series on this site, was an incredibly boring vampire game.
One I should have remembered earlier as I’ve got it is the freeware game:
Donna- Avenger Of Blood
Life is what it is.

Well, in that case I guess Infocom’s Suspect would qualify as well. It is a murder mystery set at a Halloween party, and one of the guests is dressed as a vampire. Apart from the costume, I don’t remember him acting like a vampire in any way though.
(There was also a vampire bat in Zork I that you had to repel with garlic, but including that would be pretty far-fetched, I think.)

Actually, those both qualify. I had already included Zork for that reason. A vampire bat by itself wouldn’t make the cut, but using garlic is part of vampire lore so it counts.
I’ll add Suspect to the list as well.
Does anyone know anything about the vampire platypus in Goodbye Deponia? I haven’t played the game yet and simply found the reference via search and added it to the list. Is it really a vampire reference or what?

yep, its a very small reference, and its exactly what it sounds like: a patypus thats a vampire. Not a character or much relevance to the game.
I’ve been busy lately but I did find some more games to add to the list, though the hybrids are just HOG shovelware and an old porn game. I’m not sure why I’m bothering with those but I guess it’s just for the sake of completeness. Perhaps someone else may find it more useful than I do.

Vampire Moon: The Mystery of the Hidden Sun (2010) (HOG)

Vampires: Todd & Jessica’s Story (2014) (HOG)
I’ve got one more game for the list.
Vampire Themed Adventures
Night Watcher (Rus) (2008)
It’s kind of a clunky game and borders on becoming a hybrid game near the end due to a bunch of short and rather easy action sequences but the game is all about vampires. I do like the pointers though, which are comprised of severed hands with the hand holding an eyeball for the examine cursor.
So I just found a site that has a huge list of vampire games. Check it out here.
There were only three more games in there that I noticed might be applicable to my list though…
Hybrid Adventure Games About Vampires
Blood and Ruby (2011) (HOG)
Blood: The Last Vampire (Jap) (2000) (Interactive Movie)
Dying for Daylight (2012) (HOG)
I’ve removed The Adventures of Jack Byteson: Duel with Dracula (Ita) (1986) from the list.
To my knowledge it was only ever released in a magazine and was never published as a stand-alone game.
Hi D, just to let you know that there is a scene with a vampire in Chronicles of the Sword! Here it is:
There may be some others!

Awesome! Thanks a lot for bringing it to my attention!

I know there are more, but I haven’t had the time or will to look further lately. I do have a few old text adventures I need to verify that should probably be on the list like Castle Dracula and Horror Castle though. It’s hard for me to get very excited about games without graphics though.
On another note, I have played every single graphical vampire-themed game on the list now, although I still need to complete 3 of them. I’m not sure I’ll be able to though. I’ve given up completely on one of them and the other isn’t in English so it might be impossible for me to finish. So close, but yet so far…
