Aggies 2014
Yes, it is. The newer Telltale games, though still called episodes, can no longer be bought separately and therefore the full season will be treated as one game. Same also for Dreamfall Chapters.
danganronpa 1&2
talos principle
randal’s monday
quest for infamy
blackwell
all high quality very entertaining games.
Do games not reviewed by the site count for the Aggies?
Danganronpa doesn’t have reviews and it will be a big miss in the Aggies if not accounted.
Game Informer magazine gave “Danganronpa” their “Adventure game of the year” award - irregardless of platform.
That is one huge award. The Danganronpa games have won others too. Being snubbed at the Aggies would be in very poor taste.
I enjoy playing adventure games on my Alienware M17 r4 and my Nintendo Switch OLED.
Being snubbed at the Aggies would be in very poor taste.
i do expect dangranronpa to get snubbed, and randal’s monday as well. And its probably simply because people deciding havnt played them.
But I leave the right to mention Telltale whenever I want to myself.
Let’s be crystal clear on this all around: the only “right” people have here is to abide by the forum rules. And the endless “I hate/fear Telltale so I’ll cram my agenda down everyone’s throats at every possible opportunity” routine is no longer reserved for anyone.
Isn’t the same true of Dreamfall and recent Telltale releases? Sure they’re called episodes, but they can’t be bought individually.
I believe Telltale episodes can still be bought individually on some platforms (iOS, PSN). But they always have, and have been always treated as one game by the Aggies, so that was never a criterion. (That’s more a review issue.) Really it has more to do with them being true serial adventures released in a quantifiable timeframe.
Ideally, we’d treat all episodic games in this fashion, but it just doesn’t make practical sense to wait YEARS for some games. And, of course, most episodic games aren’t ever finished, so we give most little indies at least one kick at the can.

We haven’t reviewed them yet mainly because we never got review copies, so we’ll get to them if/when we get to them. But they’re eligible for voting, and the games do have some fans on staff.

Not at all. Expecting everyone to share the same taste in purely subjective matters is silly. I’m certainly not saying it will happen, but in no way will any of us be swayed by what some other random strangers think.
And its probably simply because people deciding havnt played them.
Staff awards aren’t decided strictly by votes, so the number of people who have played them isn’t really an issue.

Fair enough. 2015 will have some tough competition.

Fair enough. Good to know.

Grim Fandango remastered already won 2015

You are confusing me with someone else, I don’t hate/fear Telltale and I’m not cramming my agenda down everyone’s throats at every possible opportunity. So I leave the right to mention Telltale whenever I want to.
PC means personal computer
My message was for everyone, not you in particular. Including those who gladly jump into Telltale-bashing derailments.

Remakes aren’t eligible for Aggies. Never have been.
There were lots of good games that were released this year. Of the games I played and completed I ranked them
Blackwell Epiphany 10/10
Danganronpa:Trigger Happy Havoc 9/10
The Journey Down: Into the Mist 8/10
The Samaritan Paradox 8/10
Broken Age: Part One 7/10
Moebius 7/10
Dreamfall Chapters - Book One 6/10
A Golden Wake 6/10
Games from 2014 I wished I played but didn’t yet are
Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and Heroine’s Quest.
So I will definitely vote Blackwell Epiphany for best game of the year and Danganronpa for best game on console / handheld if that category exists. Maybe the Journey Down for best indie and The Samaritan Paradox for best story. I will have to see what the options are for the categories.
Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure is my vote for Game of the Year!
I think 2014 has been a great year for Adventure Gaming, though it did look a bit bleak for a time.
The highlights for me has been:
The Blackwell Epiphany (GOTY as far as I’m concerned)
The Tesla Effect
J.U.L.I.A. among the Stars (remake, probably not eligibly for Aggie)
Dreamfall Chapters - Book 1 (not eligibly)
Book of Unwritten Tales 2 - Chapter 1-4 (not eligibly)
Memento Mori 2: Guardians of Immortality
But also worth mentioning:
Broken Sword 5: The Serpent’s Curse
The Journey Down: Chapter 2 (Eligibly ?)
Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments
Jazzpunk
Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers - 20th Anniversary Edition

well this year is not the best witnessed, maybe the worst since many years; low number of releases and nothing really that could be called a gem expect for one or two at max!

Blackwell Epiphany
The Journey Down: Chapter 2

Kentucky Route Zero: Act 3
Memento Mori 2: Guardians of Immortality
Moebius: Empire Rising

Oknytt
This explains it pretty well I feel:
That is a truly magnificent clip.
For whom the games toll,
they toll for thee.
Oknytt was released in 2013 not 2014.
