Hey, you started already! Go away for a few days and see what happens LOL! Don't yet have a copy, so can't join in the fun yet.

I'd never heard of this game but it sounded good so i'm giving it a go.

I could only find a Russian version of the game but the documents and conversation transcripts are in english so I can make out enough of the story to just about know what is going on, although i'm sure i'm missing out on a lot of the wit and charm. A lot of the humour is visual though and even the spoken stuff you can kind of infer. The main character reminds me of Gabriel Knight, which I find very amusing (and the Myst Stoneship in the toilet bowl).

It's a pretty cool little game and has had me laughing quite a lot, despite the language problem. I've only played through to the castle entrance so far but I couldn't find the save game on the Russian menu and in looking for it accidentaly exited the game! So I need to redo the apartment (not really a problem but i'm not 100% sure I know what I did to progress from it in the first place!). Therefore, the menu screenshot posted on page 1 of this thread is very much appreciated! Can anyone confirm for me that the save game button is the same one on the Russian menu?

Fien: is this Russian version of the game the one with most nudity?

Oh, and I am on windows 7 and having no problems, by the way. And my technical knowledge of computers is terrible.

I don't think so. The Russian 18+ version is one disc: Gary's apartment only, no castle. And it really is softporn, not much else. AFAIK, the Russian 16+ version is exactly the same as the English one. I played it for a while out of curiosity, didn't finish it. The English Gary sounded much, much better in my humble opinion.

Arial Type can probably give you more info, he's Russian and has played GAG. He said he would participate in the playthrough.

I'm sending you a PM.

PS: Sorry, I don't remember where the save button is, it's been years since I played both Russian versions.

I'm using virtual drive images too. But I found if I tried to play Gagboy before I got far enough within the castle grounds that it wouldn't play. The game wouldn't crash, but Gagboy wouldn't start. Once in the castle it played though.

I did the same thing. It seemed like the male-male pairs should work as long as you aimed them in the right directions. And there were certain female-male configurations that looked like they should work but didn't.

I think if Gagboy had been released as a casual game, the game developers might not have gone out of business.

It scared me to read Gagboy has to be played as soon as one enters the castle since I was already roaming around it for a while, but I managed to start it. The actual gameplay doesn't look promising (for me) though:

As you can see, I suck (a lot) at this and what these boys and gals do is not exactly the Kama Sutra.

It was released separately, but as a freeware. Here it is.

That's right. Both English and Russian versions have the same annoying penguin and the same (at least I think) menus. Since the game was very popular in Russia, Auric Vision released the uncensored time-killer to gain quick money.

About voices: the character of Gary was actually played and voiced by the main designer and producer of GAG Alexandre Kopov. Since he lacks the talent of Chris Jones (as well as 99% of developers), no wonder he sounds unprofessional)

Actually, it was. I think even before the original GAG. And the reason Zes't Studio closed its doors, as far as I know, was the financial crisis of 1998.

I'm glad I haven't lost my touch yet, although I would get a much higher score with a bit of practice. Up till level 4 I kept my gagboy screen nice and clean, but then I started panicking which resulted in this cluttered pic.

If anybody wants a savedgame for gagboy, just say the word.

PS: Zobraks, why don't you listen to Mom and start turning their little bottoms up. If your pic is for real, then you just sat there staring at the screen without doing anything.

I have played GAG more than once but I’m still enjoying it and I’ve forgotten a lot of stuff. The “Globe of Taiwan” on Raundryman Rao’s Rist was like new.

My favorite peeping tom video is the inflatable doll and the protective penguin is always cool. One or two jokes are over my head though. Can someone please explain the point of the chase in the “wet dream” to me. Is the rhino trying to catch a bus or does it represent a kind of desirable vehicle for the tribesmen??

Not many people will have read ArialType’s older comments, in my Potty Quiz:

Some interesting facts: the Zar game mentioned in GAG was a unique action game developed by the same Auric Vision. And the passage "Garry slept, but he knew that he should wake up at the first click of the mouse. That was a habit developed over the years" is reffered to a cult classic Russian movie Seventeen Moments of Spring about a Soviet spy.

And about Margot de la Bourbon:
I guess the character was a kind of reference to the 90th, when many young girls from poor families tried to marry rich criminals, general officers, MPs and such (there's no big difference in Russia) and then manipulated their husbands.

The bird from the microwave is one of my favorites too. I’m not sure if it’s a chicken pretending to be a duck or a duck pretending to be a rooster. Has everybody seen and heard it “swimming”around the fan? Easy to miss cause you have to look up.

I saw the flying rooster. But now he flew away, i opened the door.
Is this ment to be some kind of joke (perhaps a russian saying - or only an odd duck?) or will we met the rooster again?
The chase in the wet dream is something i can not see completely, because every time my game crashes after a short time. What happens? I only see the different party running around and hear this music. How does it end?

I'm sorry to say i'm still not in the castle (haven't had so much time to play yesterday). I hope i'm not the last lame duck. Today after work i have more time, promissed.

I've just entered the castle

Yeah, i'm a little behind but you all know the story about The Tortoise and the Hare so i'll catch up with you, although i'm certain there is something more to be done in the apartment, like something about the toilet and the ship, since i only
Spoiler:
unscrewed the screw at the bottom, but nothing more

the biggest trouble so far was
Spoiler:
climbing the cupboard
and especially
Spoiler:
using the magazine on mirror
, although I knew i had to browse the magazine in some way.

But overall, difficulty is just about right, spiced-up with constant red herrings. Indeed, i'd wish for a color inventory icons to ease the things but you get used to it. Afterall, it's easier when you know you can't combine items in a traditional way.

yes, and it's a good thing it's also not turning into mindless click-fest, since it's all more-or-less conected to the story with Gary's comments

what, you never loaded saved game only to find yourself at the beginning of the game? Pfff.. amateur! But i'm really the guilty party here since i had only one save game at a time (or even maybe i overrode it by accident ) but i had no other technical difficulties, beside that i need to play in windowed mode in order to alt-tab the game since in full-screen it would soon go black

yeap, and when i first saw Gary i thought - he reminds me of someone, other than a typical heavy-metal singer There's also an actor Branko Djuric, who had a popular comedy show in ex-Yugoslavia (which practically foretold everything that will happen politically in these areas) and Gary reminds me of him too.

The point is probably - there is no point, it's like looking at high piece of art where you can't describe it but you know it's brilliant or MAYBE, they smoked the same stuff as those Disney guys I think i could almost hear:

I can stand the sight of tribes
Even double-decker bus
But miniature rhinoceros is really too much for me

But if we're really to make some logic out of it Gary is probably a formula race maniac

so, the driving motive is a formula car and race of some sort
but other than that, no i have no explanation for the rest of it

It is, on top of my head (I am not behind my GAG-pc at the moment, so I can't look it up) racing cars, followed by tribesmen chasing a rhino and a rhino chasing tribesmen, followed by a bus, something along those lines. At the end the sequence just repeats itself.
I still don't really get why they call it a wet dream. The prespiration of all the running maybe? I'd classify it as a weird dream instead

But we'd only continue next Monday, right? So you still have some time left to play it. Besides, it would be a pity to rush through it.

The latter explanation seems more likely to me: here in my third world Afro-European country people always run for the buses. Even when a bus stops and there is obviously plenty of room for everyone around in it they rush, push and elbow each other . I almost never use a bus im my home town.

I started looking up only after

, so naturally I missed the bird flying around the fan.
Can't say what king of fowl it is.

Dunno. This game has a strong pythonesque feel to it (as Diego already mentioned), so the flying roasted duck/cock/hen fits in perfectly.

It ends randomly (I think) after the same sequence of irrational stuff (rhino chasing the Zulus chasing the bus chasing the rhino) is played for a while.

You're not. I also haven't played much lately (all of a sudden I had a lot of work to do ), and I only started roaming through that castle (two days ago). ATM I'm trying to play Gagboy without being caught by my wife Name: paranoia.gif

At the and I reckon I'll have to show her what I'm playing, she's more dexterous than I am .

P.S. When I showed the false gynaecologist name tag to the Marquis de la Bourbon and entered the castle the game didn't ask for a second CD. Was it because I already had the second CD in another CD/DVD drive?

Well, that's how I see it: since Garry is impotent, he can't see erotic dreams (yet, mind you). So he gets nightmares. The racing track comes directly from the racing poster hanging above the bed. And rhino represents himself (as his family name is Tusker). I think it has something to do with Sigmund Freud.

None I can think of - just some random stuff.

Makes perfect sense! That's the way dreams work, by association. You're brilliant AT. I never thought of Gary's last name as important.

Hehehe... Yeah, I can see you did your utmost to teach them your favorite Kama Sutra position: sitting-on-head.

Most participants have entered the castle by now, right? I feel we should give any latecomers a chance to catch up with us. So if everybody is okay with that, let's win the Gagboy prize and start the second part next Monday.

I believe rhinoceros (with its prominent phallic horn) represents potency (it is a well known fact that many people believe the powder made of rhino's horn is an aphrodisiac - which effectively put the rhinos on endagered species list), so elusive for Gary . Gary thinks about 'getting it up' all the time (then Lucy will stop mocking him and he will have a chance to do something with her) and human beings tend to dream about the things they ponder a lot about when they're awake.

Probably. I have drive images of both CD's mounted in an old version of Daemon-Tools, and the game never asked for another CD when I entered the castle or went back to the apartment.

I gave up on it and roamed around the castle for quite a while before going back to it. I don't think it's critical to play Gagboy as soon as you enter the castle. I don't know what happens if you go back to the apartment and start doing more stuff though.

Besides Fien's tip (I didn't realize you could turn them over when I played it), I found I could use the left and right arrow keys to shove them into each other before they fell all the way down. That became useful when I had a few stacked up on top of each other. I could take out one at the top or the middle of the stack by timing the shove correctly. I also used the Pause button on the Gagboy to stop them as soon as they appeared at the top of the screen so I could plan the best match.

Yes, that's why I mentioned Freud

BTW, I also entered the castle (and a little bit further, to tell the truth).
