Review of Ten Dates by shanethewolf

Like an amateur improv sketch

I don’t have anything positive to say about this. My first criticism is that the voice was out of sync with the video. When you’re designing an FMV game then that should be the one thing you must get right. Real sloppy!

Secondly the whole thing is overacted and the characters are cartoony parodies in their performance, while some are just plain obnoxious. It’s just silly and reminds me of those cringe-inducing improv performances held in community centres.

Most frustrating of all is the lack of choice. If a character is rude then wouldn’t it make sense to allow the player to retaliate or at least stand up for him or herself? It annoyed me how Ryan blamed himself for not getting any dates, claiming he mustn’t be their type, when he should have cast them aside in an instant.

And then it just ends abruptly. It turns out it’s five dates per character. I don’t know if I was supposed to give different options to open up more of the game, but I had zero interest in any of the date options. So when the credits rolled I felt cheated and ripped off.

Overall the game is utterly bland. It’s not funny, cute, dramatic or remotely interesting.

If you’re looking for an enjoyable and outrageously funny FMV dating game you’d be better off with the Super Seducer series (particularly the second one).
