Review of Journey to the Center of the Earth by emric

an adventure game of epic ambition which unfortunately falls far short of the mark at every turn. it’s clear that ‘journey to the center of the earth’ is attempting to follow in the steps of genre classics like ‘the longest journey’ and ‘syberia’, but its graphics are uninspired, the writing and structure are absurdly convoluted, the game mechanics make it a challenge just to get from screen to screen, puzzles are poorly presented, it contains crazy pixel-hunting, voice-acting is barely passable and i’ve never played an adventure game that requires so much annoying backtracking. for the last two-thirds i just looked at the walk-thru the whole time, and i even still feel like i wasted my time persisting with it.
