Review of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened by Khan4
Good but not without hinderances (adressed in future games)
A good Sherlock Holmes game, with a well integrated and compelling Lovecraftian theme.
However, there is too much reliance on items randomly lying somewhere usually with no hint you have to get them or where they can be. Too much blind underwhelming search.
Also, some puzzle are very poorly clued or not clued at all. And some even require external knowledge, which doesn’t have its place in a game that’s not an ARG.
Fortunately, there’s a hint system which is also a walkthrough, but having to rely on that is proof of some bad design.
Still overall enjoyable and a good take on the theme.
