The Dig: An underratted gem

This game may be shorter than some of the adventure games out there, but it does have pretty good length and substance for an adventure game. The story is really engrossing, it has good voice acting and the plot gets deeper. You really begin to enjoy the characters which they start with and the story has good character development to feel sorry for several of them. This story is emotional which a good adventure game is supposed to be able to somewhat convey. Adventure games to me should always focus on the story first. The graphics are slightly dated but not totally awful. I enjoyed the point and click interface. The puzzles were a little easy in comparision to other adventure games I played, but they had enough of a challenge to them. To me the most important aspect to adventure games is the story telling and voice acting, which I know others have preference. This covered the story well in a mature way which not many adventure games at the time did. I enjoyed it and could not stop playing until completion. In my opinion, I believe it is one of my favorite adventure games and one of Lucas Arts best games they made.

One of the Best Adventure Games I've Played Recently

I just beat this game and I have to say it is one of the best games I’ve played. Daedalic came through again as they always do. They make some of the best modern adventure games of any company and I would have to put this one as one of their best. I love the eco-thriller. The story is very rich and new. There are a lot of plot twists to and you really feal a good connection to both Fay and Bent in this one. The puzzles really go with the storyline and enhance the story. I loved the comic book style and thought it made the cutscenes really good, similar in style to The Last Express or Broken Sword. I really liked the original story and thought it was done very well. This game deserves to be played probabaly more than once.

One Of Best Science Fiction Adventure Games Ever

This game is very good. One of the best Science Fiction adventure games that have been made. The first two in the trilogy were very good adventure games themselves and the whole setting of the TSA and world in which is created is very deep. The storyline gets added on extra twists in this one. You still have Arthur as your trustworthy guide and sidekick and he adds humor to the game and is not annoying as a sidekick, he actually enhances the game. It is very well written. You learn a lot of history, there is great character interaction. This is enhanced from the previous versions with the new chameleon outfit allowing you to take the form of natives from the area whom you have to impersonate in order to gain more valuable information. This along with the Science Fiction/History hybrid and Time travel make this game epic. It is very well done and anyone who enjoys history, science fiction, or time travel will enjoy this one.

Loom is a Very Good Retro Game, Only Complaint is it is Short and Some of Voice Acting Wasn't Best

First off, this games story is very good and it has great music throughout. The story is interesting in that the main character has to learn notes to be able to play spells as he eventually has to use his spells to destroy evil. Fairly simple enough story, but its a good one. The puzzles are fairly easy in the game, but fun. Most of the puzzles consist of playing the correct notes to use the spell. The game and story are good and the graphics were decent for this time. I liked the unique approach of casting the note threads. The voice acting for the swans, wasn’t the best. The voice acting for the other characters was good. All in all, if you want to play every LucasArts adventure game, this one I would recommend a lot as I found it to be quite enjoyable. My biggest complaint is the short playing time as I beat the game in about three hours and they never made a sequel to it.

Primordia is a Very Solid Adventure

This game is very solid. The graphics work to add to the element of decay and despair with having no humans left as they were destroyed awhile ago. The story and plot are very satisfying, and the developer really took the story to try to hit on some themes and make you think. I love games that make you think. Without giving away too much of the story, you are a robot and you have a robot companion. You get attacked and you are trying to find out what is happening with the power in the city and to find the truth of how the humans were wiped out and how many of the robots could follow. It is quite a good plot and the graphics and sound add to the story. The puzzles are very good and thought out. This is an awesome game and one of the better science fiction games out there.

Very Solid Game, Recommended as Part of a Trilogy

This game is very solid. It is an improvement on the original in the trilogy, as the original had a good story line, but some more action elements and more sloppy gameplay, which was improved vastly by the re-boot enhanced version of the original, Pegasus Prime. If you like time travel, you will love this game. This is one of the best space adventure games out there. The story is a very good one that deals around time traveler Gage Blackwood, who has falsely been accused of altering history. He has to go to the past (uh, future past too) to prove his innocence and find the person that is guilty. The story is very good. It is not exactly true point and click, it has a similar arrow type movement to a Myst, though I would have to say a better story and more character interaction than Myst had in it. Your trusty sidekick Arthur makes a lot of useful hints or added humor. He is not annoying like a lot of sidekicks are in games and is actually very useful in this game. You try to piece together artifacts as evidence and learn about several alien races who forged together to protect the secrets of time travel. There are several twists in the game that you might not have expected. You really need to play this as a trilogy though. I suggest playing the Pegasus Prime version of the first game as it is better than Journeyman Project Turbo and it connects better to the story. This game is very solid in stories and puzzle. It has a decent length to it too. The music and voice acting were very good for the era this game came out. It links very nicely to the third Journeyman Project and lays the groundwork to the best one in the series. If you love time travel and space adventures, then what are you waiting for, I would give this one a try if I were you.

One of My Top Five Favorite Adventures

The Longest Journey is one of the best adventure games ever. It has such a great story, along with great puzzles, dialogue, character development, and graphics that any adventurer would want. The story has so many layers of depth to it as does its sequel, that it creates a breathtaking experience. There are some games that are just artforms and this is one of those rare elite adventure gamers that is above and beyond a lot of other ones out there.

Best Adventure Game Ever

I’ve played this game through over 100 times and still want to keep pulling it out more and more. My most treasured game ever. It is such a breathtaking display of graphics, dialogue, strong characters and character development and the best storyline you could ask for. This along with its sequels remain unparralled in the adventure gaming community. If you haven’t played this game, what are you waiting for. Be prepared to have the best gaming experience of your life. And don’t cross the road until the little man shows green!

Secret Files 3

Such a Let Down

First off, I loved the first two Secret Files and Lost Horizon. I thought them to be very good adventures, with a great story line, good character development and decent puzzles. I played this one and such a letdown. It has a much weaker story than the previous ones played. It fails to really connect Nina and Max as much, which is a shame as their relationship should be much stronger now. The story didn’t make a lot of sense and was lazily put together in this one. The dialogue was bad in this one too as well as a much weaker plot. It is a shame as I was looking forward to this one and it didn’t conclude the series in a good way at all. I was hoping for a very strong finish to the trilogy, but instead this game seperated itself so much that I’m not sure it even deserves to be called a Secret Files game. It lacked the expereince that made the other two great adventures. Adventures want strong storytelling and character development. This one was thrown together last second unfortuantely.

Did Everyone Even Play The Same Game?

First off, I have to say I am an avid adventure game fan. Been playing adventure games for years and always been a huge fan of the genre. I have played through so many countless adventures through the years. I have played through some memorable and some not so memorable games. This one falls in the later. I know this game gets all sorts of praise and is in the top 10 for a lot of adventure game sites, but I don’t know why it deserves that. This game is void of many of the elements that adventure gamers like most and why we are fans of the genre in the story and the character development.

First I do want to say the good about this game: It is very asthetically pleasing. It is so gorgeous and pretty to look at. It has great graphics and a simple point and click which any adventure gamer likes in a game.

After that, there isn’t as much praise to be had as all the reviewers of this game would have you believe. I have played through the game and am astounded as to why this game ranks so highly. I tried playing it multiple times, before finally deciding to fully play it through from beginning to end and give it a chance as I do every adventure game. I decided that maybe this game would pick up and get better as it goes along.

First off the game starts off real slow. You arrive at Vallendiline and you stay at a hotel. You are trying to get the owner of a factory of toy robots to sign the company over to you. The owner died, but appearantly there is a missing heir. You, Kate Walker, set out to find this missing heir to sign the factory over to you as a lawyer who represents your toy company. The heir is out of town though, in search of mammoths which he believes still exist. Your quest is to find him and along the way refuel your train through mechanical gears from these automan robots and learn more about Hans and his sister, Anna along the way. That is about the only depth of the plot. I thought there would be something secretive and extra, but that’s it. All you are trying to do is sign the toy company over, but you become interested in Hans who ran away. That is the whole storyline. No character development at all. They tried to with this awkward phone conversation thing, but it actually made it worse. The storyline isn’t really any substance at all and no character development. Not hardly any puzzles in this game either except for clicking on the screen and running from point A to point B a ton in this one.

All in all I don’t rate this as the worst adventure game I’ve ever played, but nowhere among one of the top ones. The story and character development really fall flat. I couldn’t connect with anyone and the dialogue wasn’t great either. I give it a 1.5, due to the great graphics and on the premise that this wasn’t totally god awful (I could play through the whole thing). I just don’t know why this game is considered a top 10 or even a top 50 adventure game. Would maybe make top 100, but not sure it deserves the praise it does. Going to play the second Syberia and see if you really have to play that one for this to be good, but it looks like this one is just very hyped up and not as good as some would have you believe.
