Sky of Tides: A New Wave in Narrative RPGs
This narrative RPG, developed by the Toronto-based film and game production studio Lofty Sky Entertainment and published by ESDigital Games, offers a fresh take on the genre with balance at its core.
Sky of Tides is a story-driven sci-fi adventure with RPG elements set amidst a technologically advanced universe on the brink of war. The game is set on Numen9, a planet dealing with the aftermath of a great calamity that has caused widespread destruction, including floating the oceans into the sky and splitting the land into nine separate planetoids. Players will follow the journey of Rin, a character searching for her missing father and attempting to heal the broken planet of Numen9. Rin's adventure will introduce players to a diverse cast of characters and present choices that will significantly shape the future of both Rin and Numen9.
Its unique focus on balance sets Sky of Tides apart from other recent narrative RPG adventures. While the game has 32 different endings, achieving balance in five character stat categories—compassion, intelligence, courage, luck, and humor—leads to the true ending. This approach to gameplay reflects the game's thematic focus on a broken, divided world in need of balance. As a special reward, players who attain the true ending during the initial release will unlock an exclusive five-episode animated series set in the same world right inside the game.
Sky of Tides is scheduled for release later this year and will be available on Steam, the Epic Game Store, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One and X/S consoles, and the Nintendo Switch.
