Stela leaps onto Xbox One, iOS and Apple TV
For many the end of the world is on its way, and for some it's already here. In other circumstances that would be a dire pronouncement, but not when it relates to Stela, a new cinematic puzzle-platformer available now for Xbox One, iOS and Apple TV, and still to come on PC.
Very much in the vein of Playdead's INSIDE, Stela is intentionally vague on story details beyond the fact that it follows "a young woman witnessing the final days of a mysterious ancient world." She'll face her own challenges in the process, as players will need to "overcome daunting challenges, treacherous terrain, and gargantuan beasts while traversing a decaying land."
Much like its obvious inspiration, the game offers a side-scrolling experience through surreal, slightly hazy environments that range from "mysterious towns, haunting forests, and massive subterranean ruins." Rather than relying purely on great feats of dexterity to succeed, though you will need to be quick on your feet at times, along the way you must "manipulate the environment to solve elaborate puzzles and creep past dangerous creatures under cover of muted landscapes, all set to an original soundtrack."
While PC owners will need to wait until the first quarter of 2020 for Stela's launch on Steam, the game is already available on the Microsoft Store for Xbox One and Apple Arcade for iOS devices and Apple TV.
