Frogwares warms to idea of Sherlock Holmes on Nintendo 3DS

If you've been hoping to chill with an adventure game on your fancy new Nintendo 3DS, you'll soon get your chance -- quite literally -- as Focus Home Interactive and Frogwares have just announced production on Sherlock Holmes and the Mystery of the Frozen City.

London isn't renowned for the best of weather, but it's never THIS bad. A mysterious snowstorm has fallen on the city, and the temperatures have dropped so low that even the mighty Thames has begun to freeze over. Enter one Sherlock Holmes to determine if this is more than a fluke of nature by interrogating people, seeking objects and clues for evidence of man-made interference, and solving a host of puzzles along the way.

The first images show off the game's distinctive art style, though only in 2D, of course. The 3DS is the new handheld platform that displays games in stereoscopic 3D, and this game is being "specially crafted and developed to take advantage of the unique capacities of Nintendo's latest portable console."

No firm launch date has been announced, but Sherlock Holmes and the Mystery of the Frozen City is currently scheduled for release in the first half of 2012.
