Kaptain Brawe almost ready for orders

Things are looking up for adventures these days -- quite literally in the case of Kaptain Brawe: A Brave New World, a comic sci-fi adventure that's due to arrive in November.

Originally conceived by indie developer Napthalite Productions, after a long hiatus the game was picked up and is now being finished by Cateia Games (The Legend of Crystal Valley, Hotel). A break from the company's earlier dramatic offerings, Kaptain Brawe is set in an alternate 19th century world where space pirates terrorize the galaxy. Players must step into the gravity boots of the titular character, a Space Police officer who "will embark on a journey filled with quests, conspiracies and general chaos, as he follows the lead of two kidnapped alien scientists."

Kaptain Brawe will be available for download on PC and Mac, plus mobile platforms as well, including the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. The scheduled release date is November 1st, and pre-orders will begin on September 15th at the official website.

Nice to know that this game is still alive - I searched for it a couple of weeks ago, but the old site seemed to be gone.

I wonder if this is the full game that was planned? I remember the original plan was to release it in episodes.

Only thing that bothers me right now is characters’ walking speed - they seem to be crawling! Hope there’ll be a way to speed them up, or skip the walking animation.

Moonbird, making a reasonable-sized game with these kind of graphics when you can work on it only after you return from your daily work can easily take 5 years or more.

And not all games include voice acting lately, because, frankly, it often disappoints if you don’t have a tested crew available. So for a small company paying for the voice acting might be a risk not worth taking.

Give it to us, already! Tongue

Wooo! Looks good! But oh… yeah, same gripe here. No voice acting makes me sad… I love trailer poking fun at its own genre though - “authentic old school adventure!” (this doesnt work, this doesnt work, this doesnt work…). Gold Smile. Hope the puzzles are as good as they self-proclaim them to be…

I found Demo of this game some years ago (yes, years.) And just yesterday was testing old demos and found this. What a coincidence. Today I saw the news and thought, well, well, this is still coming? What’s been the holdup? Then I noticed, that it doesn’t include even voice acting. That’s a HUGE disapointment because this is quite promising game. Moody graphics and nice atmosphere.

looks great, but the lack of voices is something indie groups get used to too much. let’s not hinder the progress adventure games have made.
also, i find it funny that the first 3 interaction they showed in the trailer were all “this doesn’t work”.
