Double demos spring up for Rhiannon

A common complaint about new adventures is that there's no playable demo to check out a game personally. That won't be the case for Rhiannon: Curse of the Four Branches, as not one but two demos are now available for the supernatural Welsh mystery.

In Rhiannon, a first-person adventure loosely based on the Four Branches legends of the Mabinogion, players must explore the remote Welsh farmstead of Ty Pryderi to delve deep into an otherworldly mystery that threatens the ongoing welfare of 15-year-old Rhiannon Sullivan. Prior to your arrival, Rhiannon and her family were driven from the house by terrifying paranormal events, the result of an ancient rivalry between the prince Pryderi and the evil wizard Llwyd that has carried on even centuries after death.

The demos are available from Got Game's official website, representing two different chapters from the full game.

Rhiannon: Curse of the Four Branches is due out any day in North America, and later this month in Europe. For more information about the game and its background, be sure to check out our interview with the developers.

I was able to play the first download (the second download was corrupted somehow), and it looked somewhat promising.  The graphics reminded me of Nancy Drew games - very clean with nice details, even though your movement within a given room was a little limited and there were a limited number of things with which you could interact.  This is likely due to, I think, the fact that it is a demo.  There is definitely a suspenseful atmosphere.  I’m thinking I might give this one a try.

Download away! Not very often an adventure game comes out with two demos before its release, so this is a rare treat.

Yay!!! I’m going to download this right now! It’s getting cold in my city these days. Leaves are starting to fall, the sky is cloudy and dark, and this is Friday night. There couldn’t be a better timing for the release of these demos and the game itself.
