Insecticide now infesting PCs

Normally finding bugs in games is a bad thing, but not so in the case of Insecticide, the stylish "action-adventure" that's now available for PC download.

The debut title from Crackpot Entertainment, a team that includes several prominent LucasArts alumni, Insecticide is a "hard-boiled, fast-shooting detective game" set in a futuristic city where humanoid bugs have become the dominant race. A murder at the powerful Nectorola Soft Drink Company prompts a police investigation through the city's seedy underbelly, led by detective Chrys Liszt and her partner Roachy Caruthers. In a distinct blend of traditional adventuring and light action sequences, players control Chrys, making use of her unique insect abilities and a variety of unusual bug weaponry to bring the murderer to justice.

Insecticide was released earlier this year on the Nintendo DS, but there are notable differences between the two versions. For starters, the PC version is split into two parts, and only the first episode is currently available, though the second is due shortly. The PC version is the more highly optimized version of the two, however, as it's not limited by the DS hardware restrictions of its handheld counterpart.

The budget-priced first installment of Insecticide is currently available at GamersGate and Steam, among other download portals.
