I have to admit that I’m a fanatic for these kind of games. I love the Myst and the Rhem series, so expect just a little bit of bias in my opinion.
I totally agree with every point you’ve made about Lisssn. The repetitive puzzles are unnecessary and there are also several other aspects of the game that you could call them kinda stupid. The childish and non-zoomable map being one of them. The weird green creature being another. The ghost puzzle being yet another. The story (or lack thereof) being yet another, etc.
While Lisssn has a handful of good puzzles, there are so many unforgiving minor details which add up to an unpolished game overall.
Nevertheless, I did enjoy Lisssn to some extend and I would recommend it to Rhem fans but it’s definitely not high on my favorite “Myst-clones” (I hate the term, but you get the meaning).
