Adventure game scene… uh, game (continued)
Hmm. It’s not City of Lost Children, is it?
Hehe… I played that one, but…
Journey to the Center of the Earth
That’s it! I started it, and didn’t think it was a stinker. Also, I remember it was released after the golden age, with few standouts here and there (The Longest Journey, Syberia…) and thought it was above average for that time.
Recently finished: Four Last Things 4/5, Edna & Harvey: The Breakout 5/5, Chains of Satinav 3,95/5, A Vampyre Story 88, Sam Peters 3/5, Broken Sword 1 4,5/5, Broken Sword 2 4,3/5, Broken Sword 3 85, Broken Sword 5 81, Gray Matter 4/5\nCurrently playing: Broken Sword 4, Keepsake (Let\‘s Play), Callahan\‘s Crosstime Saloon (post-Community Playthrough)\nLooking forward to: A Playwright’s Tale
It probably wasn’t as bad as I remember. It’s one of the few games I got to play with my sister, and we had fun at its expense. I do recall it having questionable voice acting. And I found it odd that you can only click on the path to walk to the other side of the screen.
I’ve never been a big fan of Syberia, but I’d say it’s slightly under par compared to it. JourneyttCotE is way better than something like Keepsake though.
Next:
I Am the Knight of the Order of the Sun!
Hmm. The Dream Machine?
(I thought Syberia was overrated and Syberia 2 and JTTCOTE were both pretty stinky. But with certain reservations I really liked Keepsake)
Nope not the Dream Machine.
I always thought Syberia was a bit dull, and I never got the hype. All it had going for it was the lack of better games being released (excluding the Myst games). Keepsake for me was complete drudgery, I don’t think there was anything I really liked about it. But to each his own. It is interesting to me how different peoples tastes can be.
Now for something a little less rocky
I Am the Knight of the Order of the Sun!
Well then… I see you need some help.
I Am the Knight of the Order of the Sun!
Tale of a Hero!
I thought it was Aura, Quern… or some other Myst clone.

Yes that’s it!
It does have Myst-esque background graphics.
I Am the Knight of the Order of the Sun!
I wrote an extensive review of the game. I’m sure none of you bothers to read it, so I’ll just present my conclusion from that text:
“Tale of a Hero is a game which is hard to recommend - it’s fairly long, it’s challenging enough, but there’s nothing here to standout above your average run-of-the-mill adventure game.”
It was few years ago, and from this perspective I think the game deserves a chance, though it’s far from the best Future Games’ offerings.

I’m playing it for the first time. So far I’ve enjoyed it, but I can see why you’d call it run-of-the-mill. And it has some English translation problems.
For example it might say: “Bucket has water” instead of “The bucket has water in it.”
But it has nice graphics, and fair puzzles so far.
