Congrats Timovieman
Heh, never heard of Surströmming before this post.
Then you missed my reference to the Stinky Food thread…
TimovieMan, I’m happy to announce that you’ve passed the Fien Test.
What? Why? How? Wut?
Yay! I passed the test!
The truth can’t hurt you, it’s just like the dark: it scares you witless but in time you see things clear and stark. - Elvis Costello
Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka

I did miss it, yes. I don’t read chit-chat on a regular basis. Speaking of stinky foods, don’t get me started on the awful Durian. Must be an acquired smell. You are not allowed to bring a durian into hotels in Thailand.
Now playing: ——-
Recently finished: don’t remember
Up next: Eh…
Looking forward to: Ithaka of the Clouds; The Last Crown; all the kickstarter adventure games I supported
Let’s derail this thread so Timsie will have something to mod… about!

I remember in some traveling show - could’ve been one of Michael Palin’s (I forget which one) they talked about it quite a bit Apparently it tastes pretty good though, and it’s actually fairly popular there. I always remember the scene with someone in traffic driving his car with one hand reaching out to hold the durian outside
I don’t know if the durian tastes good, I haven’t had the pleasure. The smell was quite enough for me. But I think both taste and smell are acquired. My sister lived in Thailand for a few years and of course she couldn’t refuse to eat it whenever it was offered to her, that would have been an insult. She used to describe the taste as “whipped cream with onion”.
