Adventure Game Scene of the Day — Tuesday 19 March 2013
Zork Nemesis was a fantastic game, but I had a hard time finding a screenshot that didn’t look absolutely awful. Between the horrible node engine and the speed problems, it sure didn’t age well… Still well worth playing, though.
I recently replayed part of it, and it really didn’t age very well due (do to the engine maybe), but it sure is a wonderful game
Love this game. It may lack the typical Zork humor but the story and puzzles were fantastic.
One of my all-time favorite games!
As great as Zork Nemesis is, I’ve often wondered how much of the original game got excised in the interest of fitting it on to three, instead of perhaps five, discs. There are so many obvious “hot spots” that don’t react, and from a graphics/programming standpoint they have no logical reason to be in the game except as remnants of hastily removed puzzles. An example of this are the doors in Lucien’s and General Kaine’s bedrooms that don’t open and seemingly serve no purpose.
Warning- People won’t have as much of a sense of humor about you putting an Alka Seltzer in your mouth then staggering into a restaurant while shouting “THE VIRUS HAS MUTATED!” as you’d hope they would.
Consider this: People say “Ewwww!!!” when they hear about a guy having a hairy bum or hairy back, yet every Teddy Bear ever made has had both a hairy bum AND a hairy back and nobody complains about them; In fact, people think Teddy Bears are adorable.
The only Myst-like game that I actually loved!
Never did finish it, though, got stuck on a music puzzle where I was convinced I had the correct solution. It’s on my list of games to (re)play.
The truth can’t hurt you, it’s just like the dark: it scares you witless but in time you see things clear and stark. - Elvis Costello
Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka
