A couple favorites spring to mind:
Zork: Nemesis
This Zork Nemesis book was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this thread, a favourite.
I like journals in games, but sometimes reading in to much in the computer screen can get tiring, mixing it up with audio / video Logs helps but nothing beats a physical journal.
Ni No Kuni is a recent RPG but the special edition came time an amazing “Wizard’s Compendium” - makes it so much better than looking at the digital version.
These would be some rewards I would like to get in kickstarters.
I’m surprised no one has mentioned the Schattenjager journals in GK I and II. Those were pretty thrilling to read.
