Devastating news - RIP Benoît Sokal
Nooooo… I can’t believe it, I loved Amerzone, the first adventure game in first person I’ve ever played, and I loved Syberia and will always love Syberia.
Now they march for him…
Currently translating Strangeland into Spanish. Wish me luck, or send me money to my Paypal haha

For whom the games toll,
they toll for thee.
This news has shocked and greatly saddened me, I really loved the first Syberia game, so much so that it’s my most replayed adventure game and easily gets the top spot out of all of the adventure games I’ve played over the years, the tone and atmosphere were incredible.
What adds to the shock is the fact that Benoît Sokal was only 66 years old.
So very sad, thanks for all of the beautiful art and lovely games Benoît. Rest In Peace.

With that in mind, I wonder what’s going to happen to Syberia from now on? Is someone else going to take over, or are they going to create whatever they can from Sokal’s notes, and then when it’s over it’s over.
Who work together on a comic book adaptation of the game, his son Hugo Sokal may continue Syberia saga.
I hope so. Haven’t read the comics yet, but he seems to capture the feel and atmosphere of the games. That, and he’s closer than anyone to the source material.

That is really young. What a sad tragedy. Does anyone know how it happened?
I am just now hearing about this, oh my gosh! Like a lot of people, Syberia was one of the first adventure games that really captured my imagination, and will always have a special place in my heart.
Rest in Peace, Benoît. You were an inspiration to all of us.

Most of the sources I’ve seen mention a “long-term illness,” but nothing specific.
