Adventure Game Scene of the Day - Thursday 8 December 2016
Roger, you cheater! Always liked the intro to Space Quest 5 - The Next Mutation, just full of slapstick comedy featuring good looking characters, felt like playing an interactive cartoon show at the time.
I’ve always liked the screenshots I’ve seen of this one, and the puns. It looks like it would be fun to play.

means look like you haven’t played it??
haha I always liked this introduction. Very funny. In fact this was the first Space Quest I played, I must clarify that I am not a fan of this saga, but the first time I played Space V and I saw this introduction I realized what the tone of the rest of the game would be.
” I remember. Somebody died. It was me.”

You’re lucky. It’s 50% off on GoG.

Unfortunately, it’s for Windows only.

If you’re on mac, you can use this to play it http://portingkit.com/game/825
It’s a free app that makes it easy to play windows games on mac. You just need to download and install Porting Kit. Download the exe file from gog and then click install now on http://portingkit.com/game/825.
Space Quest V in itself is supported by scummvm so you could use that to play it but unfortunately gog packs the game in a windows installer so you can’t just access the files directly. So porting kit is easier.
I’m kind of suprised gog hasn’t set up a mac version using scummvm yet actually.
Thanks for the info, Giom. I have played a bunch of older games in Scummvm and Boxer, but this is the first time I’ve heard of the porting kit. I’ll look into it.

No problem, actually this got me to playing it again. In the end after installing it with Porting Kit, I clicked on the “Open C: Drive” option in Porting Kit and copied the game folder somewhere else to import it with Scummvm. I prefer Scummvm to Dos Box emulation which is what GoG uses…
By the way, Lady Kestrel, If you have any question getting it working don’t hesitate to pm me.
