I do not understand these defensive substitutions in situations where you’re just one goal ahead. What if the other team equalizes and then you’ve got less attackers and no chances to substitute tired players in overtime.
Subs like that have decided games before (for the other team).
Next up can Costa Rica hand the Robben flop show.

First they score from a lucky rebound, and then they kill the match by wasting time from as early as 9 minutes in.
And we’re unable to force matters against defensive teams - only playing good against all-out attacking teams. That’s the main thing we need to change in the future. And two attackers instead of one, and just the lone defensive midfielder instead of two is a more than valid possibility, imo.
Now let’s hope this boring-ass Argentina gets knocked out in the semi-finals. Holland, do your job!

Well Messi squad totally outclassed Belgium for good. I am only disappointed by
Messi’s terrible miss at the end, they cannot afford to lose these chances.
Belgium was too lucky that goal post saved them , otherwise it would have been 3-0.

So Belgium had 1 shot on goal in this match and around 26 against US lol

Expected this to be more one sided.
The Dutch are taking it far too casual and slow they need to pick up the pace a bit.

Edit: wow, that’s ridiculous, subbing the keeper right before a shoot-out. If this goes south (and that’s likely given Costa Rica’s shoot-out series vs. Greece, and given Navas’ overall quality as a keeper), then Cillessen should punch Van Gaal’s lights out…
