Adventure Games Podcast
Hey guys. After several months of planning and preparation I am now delighted to finally reveal the first episode of the Adventure Games Podcast. In every episode I will speak to an adventure game developer to give them a place to talk about their games and hopefully help them reach a larger audience. I will also talk about the latest adventure game news and reviews.
In episode 1 I speak with Francisco “Grundislav” Gonzalez where we go over his career and we go behind the scenes on his freeware Ben Jordan series as well as his three commercial titles, a Golden Wake, Shardlight and Lamplight City. We find out:
- The meaning of the name Grundislav
- What the Ben Jordan series was originally supposed to be.
- What he would change if remade A Golden Wake
- Why he named the game Shardlight
- Why he decided to make the detective game Lamplight City where it’s ok to fail
Plus much more! I also discuss 2018’s best reviewed adventure games and I give my own review of Lamplight City.

Good question! If there is enough interest I may release a transcript of the interviews in written form at a later date. At the moment I’m concentrating on the audio podcast but if people would would also like to read the interviews I’ll see what I can do.

Thanks for an answer. You have my vote to do it
No worries at all! I will certainly keep you informed when I get around to it!

Thanks. I’m very much enjoying these podcasts.
Hey everyone. Just wanted to give everyone an update on the podcast. A few years ago I started the Adventure Games Podcast and we have now reached 100 episodes! In the last three years we have spoken to many of the top adventure game developers such as Francisco Gonzalez, Dave Gilbert, Agustin Cordes, Al Lowe, The Coles and David Fox. We also celebrated 30 years of Revolution by speaking to Rolf Saxon, Steve Ince, Tony Warriner and of course Charles Cecil who spoke to me about Beyond A Steel Sky. Every two weeks I also review the latest adventure games along with Tomas Becks from The Gaming Outsider and Adventure Gamers contributor Laura Cress.
To celebrate our 100th episode Ken Wiliams kindly agreed to speak to us about his new book and how Sierra was founded. He also had some interesting anecdotes about the creation of King’s Quest, how Sierra survived the crash of the video game industry in the early 80’s, and how he and Roberta decided how to hire their employees and much more.
