Match that screen!
Crabapple’s screenshot reminds me of the village in Everlight: Of Magic & Power.
Lady K’s desert screenshot reminds me of the desert in King’s Quest VII: The Princeless Bride.
Here’s mine to match (it’s from Simon The Sorcerer 5: Who’d Even Want Contact?).
Diego—am I doing this correctly? It’s a lot of fun!
Here’s one from Everlight that reminds me of the Syberia scene Crabapple posted:
Oh, well, I’m just too slow tonight. At least we were thinking alike, Becky.
Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.
Hi Lady K—yes, we are thinking alike! I still have fond memories of Everlight. Remember the “courting” dialog sequence?
I haven’t played it, Becky, but just remembered seeing the screenshots.
Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.
This one from Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island reminds me of the Simon 5 screenshot:
Match this one from Yoomurjak’s Ring:

Well that definitely reminds me of something.
Trouble is, I can’t remember the name of the game.
There was a corridor with figures along the sides.
Unlike Lady K’s screenshot, it was off-center—and the background was black or nearly so.
Seems to me it was a low-res game, 256 colors, DOS or early Windows.
I think the level took place in outer space or something—or maybe in someone’s mind.
Anyway, the area would undulate and distort—and each time you made progress, it would undulate and distort to a greater degree (and at a faster rate).
Toward the end of the level, you could hardly look at the screen.
Now it’s annoying me that I can’t remember the name of the game.
Anyone remember which game it might have been?
This is NOT from the game I was originally thinking of, but maybe this
thread isn’t the place to ask about what it was anyway.
Since it looks like I may have stalled out the thread with it,
here’s a screen from a different game to match Lady K’s screen.
And a screen to match from the same game (I really liked this game area).
Crabapple—I don’t recognize the game you mentioned earlier—especially the distortion aspect—I think I would have remembered that.
The image reminds me of another Egyptian boat scene—this one from the original Ankh game.
And here’s a new image to match from The Inner World.
Reminds me of the gate in King’s Quest VI:
And here’s another from the same game:
The truth can’t hurt you, it’s just like the dark: it scares you witless but in time you see things clear and stark. - Elvis Costello
Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka
That reminds me of Caption Contest , but also of:
(hey, that’s also from Caption Contest!) Just imagine the king’s advisor has wings/boobs.

Or this one, from Hopkins FBI:
Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.
Well, I searched for a blue fairy and companion or a blue goddess and companion, but came up empty. So here’s a blue genie and companion from Haunted.
Next scene to match—from Zork Grand Inquisitor.
A walking sceleton? Holding something like a scythe? Reminds me something (Discworld)....
For the next one, here is Pyotr’s butler from Callahan’s Crosstime Saloon.
