This is The Castle in my list:
It came out in 1997 and is by Blue Line Studios. As far as I know, it was never made for Windows. It’s a first person mystery with mystical elements.

I can’t believe you nixed a Sega Dreamcast game in favor of the worst game in the Broken Sword series.
Lady K, I’m going to rectify this nonsense by adding Crazy Taxi to my list.
(PS: Just kidding, although I bet I could make a compelling argument for why Crazy Taxi should qualify as an adventure game.)
I was thinking of replacing it with Simon the Sorcerer 3D, but then I would be disqualified from voting, wouldn’t I

i looked up mac games as i never had one and the video for this game makes it look like a sim game,if im wrong my apologies.

sorry i put mac but vids were for consoles and i missed it.boy am i a tit.i still cant find vid but mac repository has a few screens and puts it right on point.

The Mobygames entry doesn’t even have any screenshots. The release date in that is 1998, but presumably it is the same game.
Interestingly enough there is one more adventure game called The Castle, a ZX Spectrum game from 1983. And it doesn’t have any screenshots either on Mobygames!

I’m not sure what to make of it. It implies that there are games in his/her top 100 that he/she hasn’t played.
I wonder how prevalent that might be with other submitted lists.
If the qualifier at the beginning is that you can only include games on your list that you have actually played, would the stats turn out a little different?
I know that you have no choice but to trust the entries. But, as a hypothetical, there are a fair number of participants who may not have been alive when The Longest Journey was released. But they have read so much about how it is the greatest game ever, that they feel obligated to put it on their list. (Wasn’t on mine since I hated it.) But you get the point.
For whom the games toll,

Soccer Dude is referring to games he didn’t include in his list, Tim. I assume that people have played the games they’ve recommended or at least enough of them to want to include them.
