Can we agree that Halo is a good FPS with plenty of great gameplay and music and such but got treated like the messiah because it was the only worthwhile thing on Xbox at one point?

The reason why Half-Life is so influential is not because it's unsurpassed, but because of the deep influence it had on FPSs and games in general. Not only did it check all the boxes (graphics, cool guns, aliens etc.) but it threw in a well told story which ufolded solely in the game. It invented the idea of scripted sequences, took creative risks, had some great physics puzzles (which were even more of an emphasis in HL2) and was full of memorable set-pieces. Unlike anything else at the time, Half-Life felt like a living, breathing, dramatic world. With aliens.

I'll agree with you on Halo, though I doubt anybody is going to manage to change my mind regarding Half-Life any time soon.

Not that it matters, really .

Oh, and back on topic, I thought the GTA games were fun but overrated. Non-linear gameplay? What, so now I can explore a low-polygon city, run people over, shoot people and repeat... deep and meaningful choices being offered there, kids. Will you kill someone by a bridge or in a park? What car will you use to kill them? What order exactly would you like to complete some missions in in order to unlock a totally linear story?

I agree with Lacey about the FF series. FFVII was pretty good, but the rest...meh.

Somebody should start an underrated thread.

HL is still the best game ever IMO! What an amazing experience when I played it 8 years ago.

Big Rigs, Sam? No, no, no, that's not overrated at all; that actually is the greatest game of all time...

I would agree with you apart from FF9, Thats my favorite out of the lot and the only one that kept me interested enough to go to the end(not complete it though, 5 bosses with no break was a bit much for me)

But a character poll doesnt really have much to do about the game itself though. FF8 sucked but you have to admit that squall if a pretty Awesome character design, the whole Revolver sword thing was really cool looking

Its about unstopable Trucks, nothing can stop them! not even the laws of physics or houses!. Unless its the computer thats driving, then the finish line can easily stop them. The computer can never be Winner.

Well, your behavior in the few threads I have seen you in brought me to that conclusion. Instead of being an ass, why not try conversing in an adult like manner? Try it! I think you will be pleasantly suprised by the response you receive.
