Dead Man's Chest was TERRIBLE. Just got home. Feels like I was in the theater for 3 years. Aren't big Hollywood summer movies like that SUPPOSED to be entertaining? Watching paint dry would be more fun...

I just came from the premiere of PotC in our local extremely crappy theater.

I found PotC: DMC to be a good sequel, and it featured a very good cliffhanger. I admit that the movie had several bad scenes where nothing really happened, but in contrast it had a lot of great scenes with lots of action.

I give it 3.5/5

Now I'll go back waiting for the Superman premiere, two weeks anymore. Oh man, that is going to be one sweet adventure.

I would give it a much lower ranking, but I must say...the computer animation special effects are the best I've EVER seen. Davy Jones is completely CG. Unvelievable. Incredible.

I know, Dead Mans Chest has the most amazing CG effects but not an overload like say... King Kong. I just watched PotC 1 on DVD today, I'll never get sick of that film.

Did I mention I saw Over The Hedge, funny as hell.

A quote from the film that made me laugh so much, dont look at it if you havent seen the movie, otherwise it will be unfunny.

Hard Candy

Irritating. Don't misunderstand me, it's not a bad movie - but it's not good, either.
Spoiler:
You can't sympathise with anyone in it, except for the neighbour, who's only tangentially involved. You spend the movie thinking you can sympathise for one person, and then that's snagged from you, too. That gave the movie nothing. It just took away from it.

It's not a nice movie. I suppose it doesn't try to be, so perhaps I'm doing it no justice by disliking it on that basis. But it doesn't really answer questions, you sympathise with no one, you are left thinking er, yeah, right.

Spoiler:
You wonder where they left the part where he grabs her and skins her alive as would be just. Instead she gets away with it, the little fuckwit.

I don't want to alienate anyone from watching this movie - like I said, it is definitely not bad. But it's not good for popcorn, and it's the type of movie that just makes you angry. It doesn't really leave you wanting to answer the questions for yourself, either. You just leave, feel unsatisfied, and credit the movie as okay because it was acted more than decently and the plot is unique and they tried some fancy stuff with the camera.

Heh.

Okay, so maybe it's hard to give a review of this movie that isn't a full rant. Seriously, though, it's not all bad. Give it a shot. I'm sure you'll know what I mean when you see it.

The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

It was quite amusing, and I found myself laughing out loud on several occasions.

Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest

I really liked this movie and I had a great time!

The downsides first: Very slow start. I wasn't enthralled with the character interactions and how they introduced the story. It was very plodding.

Spoiler:
I didn't get the importance of the compass and the dead man's chest at first (unless I wasn't supposed to). Once they found Jack, the mvoie picked up considerably.

I loved:

Spoiler:
The cages that Jack's crew were trapped in and the scene with them swinging to get to the mountainside. Very funny.

The Voodoo lady.

The three way sword fight toward the end. Terrific physical comedy.

And I absolutely loved:

Spoiler:
The Flying Dutchman and her crew. I couldn't take my eyes of it. Freaky, funky, fantastic, creepy and awesome. And I especially thought Davy Jones was fantastic. Such a cool character and even though he wasn't meant to look like him, I couldn't help but think of LeChuck (as seen in Marek's avatar) when he first came on the screen.!

Did anyone stay through the credits?

I'm sure something else will come to mind later.

Damn!
I kind of thought that there might be something after the credits, but I didn't stay to watch them.

I wasn't just by myself there watching the movie.

I always try to stay through the credits. Dealing with the peer pressure (or cinema employees' pressure ) may be hard, but I think I owe it to the creators. Also, I hate it when TV broadcasters cut the ending credits off, play them on fast forward, etc.

There was a little extra scene at the end.

Spoiler:
They showed the tribal village where Jack Sparrow was chief (and was to be eaten). The dog (who was on the boat with the two pirates) was on the throne wearing the headdress and had a bone in his mouth.

Nothing huge but it was cute. Did you have a date Kolzig?

Superman Returns

You will believe a man can fly.

Loved it.

With the old John Williams theme and Marlon Brando's voice this really is a homage to the Superman 1 and 2.

The Shuttle/Plane sequence is utterly thrilling.

Spacey is over the top cool.

The SFX are ace.

SUPER.
