If not, you're missing out on some great matches. Not that Americans don't know how to play it (you did reach the quarter finals of WC2002), it's just not the same.
I'm just curious, because there are few Americans who like soccer, they have the strange idea that it's a girl game.
Football, soccer what's in a name... we are both talking about the same thing And yeah I do watch European soccer. I was in an Irish bar watching the Euro cup final between Greece and Portugal. Dude you know that? They don't show the Eurocup here in America. Me and my friends had to pay 180 bucks to watch all the games. At least they show the WC, but usually we have to wake up till 3 AM to watch em. I remember in June 2002, I was staying awake till 3 AM and waking up at 8 to watch the rerun of the other game. We also get all of copa America, which in my opinion was at a higher level this year than Euro cup, especially Argentina and Brazil. It was good stuff

Yeah, the Europeans weren't that great (as in spectacular). The Champions League is the most spectacular football competition in the world in my opinion. I was joking about the 'soccer' thing, I'm glad there are football/soccer fans in the states. I'm surprised the European Championships weren't available in USA, after all, even in my third world country you can watch the NFL(yuck!) for free on a Romanian sports channel.

And even though I started a similar thread (not knowing abot this one),
Sly Boots is the main character of Anachronox.
The avatar is the picture of Sly Boots.
The title is the self-description of Sly Boots.
In my signature I mention the games I play/replay/will play. I thought of including the 'I shall kill you... with DEATH!' quote from Anachronox, but it would have looked violent to the ones that haven't played the game.
You probably saw the pattern... I am an Anachronox freak.

I love Terry Prachett too. Unfortunately, here in Romania only his first four books were published, and since buying them from USA/UK is too expensive, I haven't read the 'Guard' ones. So I also thought Concrete's avatar was a picture of Clint Eastwood.

Since, so much has changed since I last frequented here, I wanted to resurrect this thread, to be able to meet the new crowd (remember when we used to freak over 666 people being members of the AG forums? As in, this place is going to hell, and there's too many of them? Well, check the numbers now! )

Anyway, let me describe my stuff, since that has also changed from when I first started this thread.

Avatar: G-Man, dressed like Eminem. I spliced the two pictures together, just the other day. He represents the G-Thang, a gangsta version of G-Man. Which brings me to my

Title: G-Thang. It was my screen name when I used to play half life deathmach against my cousin (using the G-Man model), and more often than not, I owned his ass, big time!!!

Sig: A nice quote from Voyager. I thought it portrays humanity, and thus myself, wonderfully.

Handle: check out the first post for that one.

So, anyway, please, introduce yourselves!

My user name is my initials.

I picked my title because I like Alice Through the Looking Glass and because my taste in humor, music, and art is sometimes on the weird side.

My avatar has no meaning right now, and I often change it. I use a more permanent avatar on an other forum because they allow larger ones, and it doesn't look good when shrunk down to 80 pixels in width.

The name "Jazhara" is from the game "Return to Krondor" by Sierra. Jazhara of Kesh was a mage from some oriental land (Kesh), and she had that lovely accent in the english version (I played the demo. I later ordered the german version, and was horrified to find out, that she has no accent at all in that version. )
So I chose that name as my username, to remember this character and his lovely accent!

"Actually she just liked the name..."

Awww, okay. But anyway!

The "7" is there, because that is my favourite number.

My title, "Professor of Fuzzy Logic" is inspired by Discworld (I couldn't fit "and Wooly Thinking"). At another forum (The DIVIDE), my custom title is "Looning over the world!" (Which suits my character quite well. I'm the official Loony, by the way.)

My avatar is Edna Mode, my favourite character from the Pixar movie "The Incredibles". If you haven't done so already, go watch it!

My signature is the poem from Lady Cygna's grave in the Weavers' graveyard, in LOOM. I love LOOM.

The other thing is a quote from Terry Pratchett's Discworld. It's an error notice by HEX. I like Cheese.

pinkgothic: My standard screenname. Actually, it should read PinkGoth2, but I noticed that people weren't able to grasp that PinkGoth hadn't been taken. Accordingly, my Y!M, AIM and Ravenblack Vampires names are still stuck at PinkGoth2. But by now, most people call me pinkgothic, so the damage is minimal.

To understand where pinkgothic is from, you first need to see that my life is one big parody. BoyToy and I are both the most enthusiastic fans of Apollo 4 40 there are (well, for the sake of argument), except that he takes his fandom seriously and has the most information-rich fansite there is. But it's bleak and unfunny (no offence, honey). That's where I came in.

My real name is Meike M. Pabst. My online name is Neike Apollyon Satana. Apollyon and Satana are obvious, so I'll skip that. So why Neike? Why pinkgothic? What is all this?

The guitarist of Apollo 4 40 is called Noko. Back when I was making a fansite, I created it around a pseudo Cult - a religion based on Apollo 4 40 as deities. But I wanted a prime deity and Noko ended up being that, also because he made the mistake to answer to my eMails. (This was back in 2001) So, "the deity had spoken to me". And "the deity wanted a Cult". And, and, and. Of course, this was all total nonsense, and I don't think it helped the friendship I was hoping to create, but it was all good fun.

Anyway, Noko had a website, and one of the images on it (the image itself his website name in glaring magenta) was called pinkgoth.gif. From that day onwards, Noko was Pink Goth the First, and I, as the Magistra of his Cult, Pink Goth the Second, as an honorary title. I even went and bought a couple of pink shirts for giggles.

Just that eventually, I noticed I quite liked the pink-black combination. And now, it's my favorite set of colours. Dayum.

avatar: My avatar is a photo of me. The little blue squiggle on my neck is photoshopped onto it and is supposed to be a tribal style gecko. It was made to be my avatar on another forum (where I'm global moderator on) about a game called Ravenblack Vampires. Everyone knows me as Dread even though my in-game name is PinkGoth2. Anyway, I have a clan there, called Splinters of Dusk, a mercenary clan with strangely self-destructive rituals and rules, and their symbol is the gecko - the creature that, if it loses it's tail, just grows it right back. It is our symbol of power. My character leads the thieving section within the Splinters of Dusk, and has the gecko emblem tattooed to her neck. Ergo, the picture.

Nickname: Probably my biggest mistake. *lol*
It originates from the fact that I feel pretty much like being a Toy of Pinksie*) - and from the fact I'm a Boy, of course.
But I guess the name's a bit misleading, after all. (But I don't mind anyway. )
*) Pinksie is my girlfriend and is the one who brought me to this lovely forum.

Avatar: This furry yellow fellow on the left is 'Flat Eric'. Some of you might remember him from starring in a series of Levi's commercials a few years back.
Allegedly he was the plush toy from the childhood days of the commercials' director, and is supposed to be a dog! (Which is very fitting, because I'm also known as 'Underdog' and generally regarded to be a canine person by several people.)
Nowadays, Flat Eric is sitting on the backseat of my car, btw. 8-)

Hmmm...on a slightly different note, I just saw this great one liner at Albertsons which I wanted to make into my new sig. It was on a can of whoop-ass, and said something like "reinvigorates you spirit, and gives you new hope for mankind." I'm not sure if that's the exact quote, but I'm afraid to google "whoop-ass", cause I'd probably get a bunch of freaky butt-spanking porno sites. Oops, better not be giving Kirk any ideas...

Swordsie, I think you're the only guy on these forums who didn't change anything ever since you first described it almost a year ago

I, uhm... why wasn't I made aware of this thread? Didn't you guys get the memo?

Nick: Way, way back when Half-Life was new and shiny and everyone had 3Dfx graphics cards, I played my first deathmatch game (No, I had never played Quake or Quake II, although I knew about them). I tried thinking of a good name, but due to severe writer's block I couldn't quite place my mind on the english word "Jester" (Which I feel is descriptive of my personality), so I picked "Royal Fool" instead, which could be considered terrible slaughtering of the English language.

Well, it stuck.

Avatar: Fans of japanese animation might recognize it as Chiyo's dad. Yes, he's a schoolgirl's father. No, she's not a cat like him. In fact, he claims he is not a cat. Hence my title.

Title: See above.

Signature: Err. Rather self-explanatory, but feel free to PM me with further questions if you don't quite get it.

I could swear I posted in this thread before, but perhaps it was another of a similar title, as I don't see a post in here. Of course, it would help if I took myself off my ignore list.

I think this is only the third time you're posting this. Of course, whether or not it's on purpose remains to be determined.
