I'm sorry Stepurhan. I'm sure your wife will get through it with your support.

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. We've been to the funeral directors this morning and Mrs Urhan is a lot better now things are actually happening.

Speaking calmly to people even when I'm frustrated is part of my job. The HMRC (UK tax authority) systems are not all they could be, especially at this time of year . I've just had to make another call to their technical support line (deadline for returns is the end of the month so I'm still having to deal with some things from home. Not ideal but I can't let clients suffer for something that isn't anything to do with them) and I know it's not their fault so I always talk reasonably. It's good when, as was the case today, the person the other end actually seems to be making an effort to help of course.

Really? Here in NL people have to be buried within 10 days. You have a lot of time to prepare Step.

I was surprised as well. It seems some people have been able to leave it as long as a month.

There are a couple of reasons for delaying it. Firstly, her brother is still seriously ill (though stable) so we're hoping he's going to be mobile by then. Secondly, her sister lives in Australia so not exactly a quick hop away.

I was trying out for the musical Oklahoma, and they called me back to see if I'd be good for Jud, who's one of the main characters. And then they sent me a letter, saying they only wanted me in chorus. I'm really bummed out about it. I'll accept chorus, which is what I was expecting when I tried out (I didn't know anything about the play yet, so when they asked what part I'd like I wrote "Random cast member in chorus #15".). But them teasing me with Jud really got my hopes up for that part. It's a really good role, and I think I could have done a great job with it. Blah.

Warmest condolences, Stepurhan.

Sorry you didn't get the part you were hoping for, MoriartyL. Still, you're in, so that's good.

I'm probably joining a band. And playing tuba in it, at that.

Cool! Didn't you play the tuba before when you were very young? I seem to remember a picture of a very young Squinkysie playing the tuba.

Well, I wasn't VERY young, but I was younger than I am now.

My twelve tear old has switched from her coronet to a baritone euphonium. I freaked when I heard her practice, not knowing of the switch.

Sorry about your not getting the Jud part as well MoriartyL. When you had no expectations it would have been fine but I can understand how frustrating having the part waved at you and then snatched away must be.

My brother-in-law, the seriously ill one, woke up yesterday. Now someone's got to tell him the bad news. Mrs Urhan isn't up to it so guess who's in the frame for that one.

BTW, Lee and Squinks: How's Sage going? Or am I now hitting where it hurts? If I do, that isn't intentional.
